I had/have to work today the lovely 5am to 11pm shift but will try to make it to Squaw or somewhere tomorrow late morning-noon. Hopefully the upper mtn will pop.... after being closed for nearly a week!

As for Kodak today, Dom hit it 3 times today. Vista T-Bar opened around 1:30.....but now chair 4 as far as I know.
KW actually opened the t-bar w/o 4 running? Disappointed (only because I was not there). And I thought that was against protocol in case of injuries. Safe to assume the Saddle has been well hit then.

I guess I go back to plan A and hit Emigrant well.

Afraid? More like having the utmost respect for mother nature. There's a big difference.

it's respect when you keep it to yourself. it's fear mongering when you preach about it to try and influence others.

It's snowed almost 200 inches the past 10 days or so. People need to show the mountains the respect they deserve. Call it what you want.

Iron Horse was running and the hike to Vista was open all day, allowing ski options into the Saddle or backside via Coyote/Button/Sunnyside on superpacked windbuff. Access didn't go.

Saddle was hit, but not "well" - a lot of people didn't come back after lunch or know the t-bar was running. More tracks in lower cirque from the Eagle side. Plus the wind was ripping pretty good, moving snow and re-buffing Wall face and refilling NE to SE aspects all afternoon. It's been so wind-affected (plus a half-hour of sun in the morning) that very few things have been skiing "deep" allowing for quick refills. Untracked turns today were some really really fast Mammoth Mtn style (you know, when 4 feet skis like 4 inches) super-G carving buff. Anything with upslope wind transport (whiskey, caples, parts of norms) is probably going to be a nice supercrust tomorrow.

Coop actually got in line with the mortals for the Chair 10 opening this morning, it was fun having him in line hanging out.

Also noticing a lot of copycats at the Wood lately. I guess my pole is so retarded looking that it's somehow ironically cool now?

Perhaps you could outline what we need to do in order to show the mountains the respect you feel they deserve. I mean, how can we know without your expert tutelage?

Powdork, just reading your last 2 post and all I can say is that you are a cocky dumb ass. Basically I am guessing you are the guy that is to cool for everyone, can't say I am a fan of people like that. Tell me what is wrong with somone warning people in tahoe to be careful in the trees when I was just reading another thread post by tree skier that said,

" Terrible news. That is 4 treewell/NARSID events in 7 days for Tahoe:"

    - I went under in jacks bowl (Sierra at Tahoe) on Sunday and was revived
    - the older gentleman from the east bay died at Sugar Bowl in 30"
    - a snowboarder treewell fatality at Sierra at Tahoe
    - another snowboarder rescued in the backcountry.

Flake, picture and video taking was a challenge in today's conditions. It was nasty out there.

Bertreynolds, what planet are you from?

The TGR crew was out in force at AM today! JLA, sorry for not getting back to you. My little guy was struggling with the conditions so I would have dragged you down.

the guy was NOT talking about NARSID or about being careful in the trees, he was talking specifically about avalanche danger (and about skiing an inbounds run too early). Additionally, he wasn't warning people. He was admonishing them for stuff they had already done. He called them 'retards' (his words, not mine) for doing something he didn't approve of.

you should stay inside. nobody has died inside in the last week.

Nope, sorry, he's a great guy with a classically cynical viewpoint (never met him, just know him through his perpetual stoke sharing and commentary over the years. PD, one day I'll bring my clubs down for some rounds on the south shore links with ya'll). He's just calling out someone else, an obvious dilettante, for not keeping their uninformed opinions to themselves when they should.

And Orgasmo, who are you to tell me how to respect the mountains? You really don't have a clue, do you? It is best you stay in-bounds and leave the big hills for the big kids to play in until your knowledge, skills, and intuition can catch up to a higher standard.

    Kirkwood DELIVERS!

    BACKFLIPS by CLACK!

    Nut-impinging KODAK STOMPAGE by MILDBILL!

Also, both those guys totally greased Heart Chute, so... good job by them. I did nothing rad except get epically wheeled coming out of Once when the fast windbuff I was riding turned into soft, deep, wind-deposited pow. Funky wind effects all over the hill but a very fun day fo sho.

nice sound bite. as usual, it's all fluff and you have nothing to back it up, nor any intention of doing so.

it's also best to know who it is you're calling out when you make that call.

Who is this Hugh Tardway and Turd Renolds and why are they here douching up our stoke? Get a life sirs.
I love the armchair quarterbacking from OS. It screams "I'm too lazy, scared, or tied down to work to go ski so I'm gonna berate you for doing it!".

I'm just here to say 213 is an idiot...

    (winkey-doodlez)

Looked fun Hatchett, was that really 3rd creek? Looked like the cornices (and trees under) the top ridge of incline.

And didn't Josh just get back from AK? Does that sumbitch ever work?

Was at Alpine yesterday....didnt make first chair like SD, but was in line at opening. What a bunch of morons standing in line at summit. hit the back side, the snow was nice on top but a crust had formed on the lower third. The snow on expert cut off, art's and the cliffs was not wind buffed. Fun day, with unusual snow.

while i enjoy the deepness stoke here (sitting and suffering in sahareurope), I had to chuckle at the idea of the Californian Big Mountain Resorts and the crazy Out of Bound heroes there

Any Squaw peeps online to give an update on Squaw openings? I am at work getting a few things done, but thinking about bailing for Palisades.......my question is are they dropping at 10, or will some delayed openings give me a chance to get there.

Sunday was one of the most fun days at KW. Started the day off railing shit with 666 on his favorite windbuffed green run. Then after two runs, whilst standing in the singles line, I thought "wait a second, could it be?" And now I know for sure I just added two more guys to our wolfpack. Mogul6969 and dhklauer joined us and then there were 4 of us wolves running around Upper Cham together, looking for strippers and cocaine.

10 starts spinning and we get in line. The windbuff was more like Mammoth than KW. Fast and Furious laps chasing 666 down to ***CENSORED***. In the meantime, Heart Chute was getting devirginizing by Clack and Mildbill like a cheerleader in a Raiders locker room.

On the second lap of 10, Coop gives me and 666 some inside information that ***CENSORED*** is about to pop. We head over there to the Chinese Downhill starting gate. 666 runs off to get first tracks on ***CENSORED***, mindful of his self-imposed 11am curfew. Up top, me, slim, mildbill, Steven S Dallas & Mrs Dallas and 100 of our closest friends get ready to RRRRRRRRRurmble.

***CENSORED*** pops and I make a beeline for my favorite lower cirque cliff and repeatedly bombed the Kodak LZ like a Libyan air base. (Thanks dhklauer and G for spotting!). After Kodak got gangbanged by me, Mildbill and Clack, it was time to move onto the next zone. A speed run through Norms followed, then a Chinese uphill from top of 2 to the T-Bar to slay Vista/Saddle.

Vista was variable windraped-windbuffed. Then we roll over to ***CENSORED*** and bombed ***CENSORED***** cliffs harder than an M Night Shamalan movie.

After about 6 hours of nonstop hooning, hucking, and having an insane time with the crew, everything's been played and slayed. Time to call it a day. And what a fucking insane day it was.

    Nice backflip Clack.

And way to get after heart boys. Sorry I couldn't be there.

Sitting back at my desk after ten days in SLT- and can't say I am happy to be here.

The longings to move permanently to SLT are stronger than ever
