Don't VIP cards get ski-with discounts or some such?

Anyway, if Alpine is opening Friday, I'm leaning towards driving back Friday morning and getting a couple of hours in the afternoon, then skiing all day Saturday. Other than one day at Mammoth last season, I can't remember the last time I paid retail for a day of skiing. Sticker shocked.

Hmmmm...forgot about that. I was wondering why I didn't get any coupons with my pass this year. The program went online.

"MVP passholders already have Mammoth's best deal and with our new, online Bring A Friend program spreading the love is a cinch! MVPs can now hook up riding and skiing buddies with $58 lift tickets*—a savings of $34 on a single day ticket! And MVPs can extend this benefit six times during the season. It's as simple as a click or two of the mouse. Each benefit can be used to buy a single day ticket, a five day ticket or anything in between."

Had rehiring stuff at kwood today. Place looks great, white stuff is there in plenty, and it definitely is light. However, if these east winds come in and are bad they are saying the top may not open this week. They are trying to put up some snow fences to keep this light stuff on the crest. Wanted to take a run through martins but didn't have the time.

On another note, the rumors of the cirque being opened are somewhat true. They are "examining" ways and opportunities to open several lines through the area, but are concerned of the obvious safety issues . The main idea at the moment is to have it only be open to guided groups, but they like the idea of it being more accessible to all. Another key component to this is getting the cannon in working order again. Finding suitable permanent rescue solutions is another issue. They build anchors the weekend of for each of the comps that run through there, but they are not a permanent solution.

And as for other info (which i am sure many of you have already heard), they made no major additions to the infrastructure but chose to invest in repairs. This means new powerhouse (new generators and setup, with a dedicated generator for the lifts, not just 3 power sharing), new motor and gears for 10, 4 new cats, chair 6 computer was rebuilt (no more chair spacing issues) and lots of other little stuff. But knowing it is the wood, we will wait to see what this year brings. For you chair 7 heroes, free and easy (right off chair) will now be the progression terrain park, apparently for the entire run.

Where are you seeing an evil-e forecasted? NOAA is calling for southwest winds, not east, for at least the next 4 days.

Today must've been the first time he's skied them.
