Seeing the forecasts right now 3 feet looks to be the minimum, but you know how those forecasters are

I heard Stockton is nice this time of year, I've also heard you can jump an open draw bridge?

anybody headed up to squaw/tahoe from the bay on friday? if so and you wouldn't mind a co-pilot, send me a PM...

i'm trying to set up a job interview in san jose on friday, but don't have a car at the moment.

i was gonna take a greyhound up the hill on saturday, but would love to make it home for opening day at squaw.

also... does anybody know if the greyhound buses tend to run during a big storm? i heard this was gonna be the storm of the millennium!
    Still waiting...

Boarded Beaver Bowl / Sisters at Alpine today. Pretty firm and variable, but will provide a nice surface for new snow to fall on!

i am coming from the pnw to bless you with a storm. the only thing i demand is a ride from sf to reno/tahoe on monday or late sunday.

also, i am skier supremo and would like other skier supremo's to ski with. i prefer hiking up the mountains with hair on the bottom of my skiz that allows me to uphill. then downhill without hair.

You do not want to be on a bus in a snow storm. They will chain up with an inch on the ground and go 25mph for 150 miles

Hope the storm of the millennium talk doesn't jinx it. Mammoth weather forecast not looking to severe yet If it will dump two feet plus, I am up there Monday-Wed
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

i can handle slow and steady as long as it makes it eventually... missing saturday could be brutal, but i'll be happy to get home in time for sunday thru forever. it would suck to get stuck in the bay for a few days.

saturday might be great, might not.... looks like they're only prepared for lower exhibition, but with a bunch of new snow they could open the upper portion (of the mighty exhibition chair). i remember extra-bitchin actually making for a pretty fun opening day one year (2003-04?)....

jahroy - PM sent. I can give you a ride. Probably put you up down here too if you need it. Call me rather than PMing back. I won't be online again until tomorrow night or maybe even Thursday.

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

Hey gang. Alpine's giving away a nice jacket to whoever most accurately predicts the 3-day total snow accumulation for the upcoming storm.

    Details here: http://www.skialpine.com/contests/predicto-lotta-snow

They won't commit to anything other than the December 10 date, but I gotta believe that if they get enough coverage, we should see some skiing at Alpine either Turkey Day weekend or the following. Pray Ullr.

I'll be in the Alpine area for the whole Thanksgiving week, and I'll be hiking runs on a few days for sure if the snow coverage looks like enough not to destroy my bases. I really wish I had skins and AT bindings...

Those fuckers. As soon as you posted I thought "At the base, mid-mountain, or the top of Ward?" Because that's where they've traditionally given their base/snowfall numbers. But they don't specify.

There's a HUGE fucking difference between the three.

That said, I'm going with four inches at the summit. This storm will be a dud.

And I'd like to thank these gents for a perfect sufferfest. If I can only get up to 50% of their stamina, I'll be golden. Lesson: just don't eat the snacks offered by Powdork in the parking lot before climbing.

yuck. That means it will get tracked out, only for the paying customer. I'd pay a small fee to ski the cirque (say $20), but I'd bet this will be one of their $100+ expeditions. And you need to wonder if they will have some sort of ski test, let alone equipment requirement.

OTOH, it would be nice if this paved the way for a Big Sky sort of deal: beacon, probe, shovel, friend and timed entries. Then it would be a good thing, IMO.

    Talking of a Bus...

Both BayAreaSkiBus and NACski are (scheduled to be) running buses up to Tahoe, from the Bay Area this weekend.
But both companies look like they'll be going to Northstar...
But that might not so bad.
Last year at the start of the season, they had 3 WROD's going, when everyone else only had one...and one of them was steep and icy...just to wake up those sleeping muscles...

meanwhile, down at Dodgy Ridge (I know, I know...) a few of the boys and I will be working the next few days putting up tower pads and such - folks are twitchy about this storm - if conditions alllow, we're going to try to open ASAP - Thanksgiving would be nice - someone else can cook the damned bird for a change
