Hello darkness my old friend
I know that Dodge Ridge doesn't even register a blip on the Standard Scale of Lake Tahoe Radness, but this is good to see:
DODGE RIDGE TO INSTALL NEW SURFACE LIFT REACHING THE SECOND SUMMIT
"...T643 will position skiers and riders above and beyond chairlift 8 at second summit with new access to additional advanced skiable acreage. The new addition will double the length of three expert ski runs above Granite Bowl and will also offer advanced skiers and riders the accessibility to explore more of the mountain including backcountry areas beyond the resort's boundary open to out of bounds pass holders registered with Dodge Ridge Ski Patrol...."
Access to some decent BC terrain without having to fight the rabid hoards of Tahoe? Nothing to see here, please move along.....

Heard Hugh lost a testy in the tram line at Kitzbühel via altercation with the local monoboard team circa '93. Has been bitter about game theory since.- Klauss
Well, I had an absolute blast skiing solo at Mammy today. It felt like it was just me and race camps. Not even close to freezing meant the groomers skied like untouched corn....mmmmm. Never saw a soul on my chair 23, Paranoid, phillipes (still goes) runs....and guess what? It was only a tad suncupped (and mainly near the bottom)....just lift accessed corn bliss. Hell, even the Superpipe was rad.
Yesterday, I arrived at Ellery Bowl at around 8pm, so I didn't have much time other than to boot up as fast as possible before it got dark. Got 2/3 way up the bowl near the exit of Chute Out and Banana Chute but had to get going at 8:40 before it got scary dark. Basically skied mostly smooth corn on the furthest skiers left line down to the dam.

Schralph, it was good to meet you on Saturday at the wood. Classic to hear your hoots! I haven't had a chance to go through my pics yet but if any of my long distance photos of you come out, I will post them up. Did you switch crews? I didn't see anyone with skis in the morning but it looks like you were with someone with ski's later.
"Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will..."
anyone know what the real deal with Brewer Creek trailhead is? Bgnight, did you talk to anyone about access on your trip?
Shasta Avy Center says 11.2 mile approach to the TH ... that doesn't sound right, no way the snowline is down all the way to Military Pass Road??????
Good to meet you too ... Haha that's funny about the hoots. From dropping the Wall or when I was shooting you guys? LongShortLong (on skis) picked up my skintrack and caught us from the top of Once after I had dropped it. I waved him in and we dropped Notch into the Drain before skinning around Waterfall and up the Wall for laps 1.5 and 2.5. I may have pics of your crew when I popped above Waterfall and you guys were dropping the Wall.
yeah, what he said ...

Last I was up there a few days ago the lower gate was open, but the one at the top of corral was still closed to get to the top of the connector trail (in fact the snow still made even riding to the top via the rode not doable, but everyone is just riding up the connector to get the extra vert. Trails are already getting loose since it's the only game in town pretty much.
The Cold creek trail is riding real nice, access via the fireroad/high meadows is still snowed in but you can ride up the trail pretty much to the top.

Tahoe Mags: who is hitting Squaw next weekend? Might be fun to get a crew together for a few hours on the 2nd or 3rd?
I know that the 2011/12 passes are good to go this coming weekend (Thank you Squaw Mgmt), but not sure about last years's passes being valid.
I have like 10 Bud's left on my Chammy Buddy Pass, if the Chammy re-opens beers on me Sat or Sun.
^^^ I've got a friends wedding in the Yay Area on Saturday (who schedules a wedding during ski season, gosh), however, I was planning to hit Squaw on Sunday, AM on Monday (though I may switch that up based on the coverage reports from Saturday).
I may hike a run up at KW tomorrow on my way back to SF...most likely late morning, but who knows. Ha.
However, I'm still on the fence with plans next weekend. If the family comes with, then Squaw on Sat, if no family, day trip to KW from SF. Its a waiting game at this point.
Oh...and here are some Mammy highlights from Thursday the 23rd of June, 2011:

^^^ that is one empty look chair 23.
I've got 2 Mammoth 2fers if anybody wants 'em for this coming week.
Lemme know ASAP so I can send 'em out.
Other'n that, I'll be lurking around AM and Squaw over the 4th more'n likely (or continuing to milk Donner Pass).
Because of this low-lite from Mammoth on the 16th, I am not feeling hopeful for the Wood this next weekend...

Let it snow!
2" of precip for Shasta? Freezing level below 8K? July powder?
Looks like Tahoe might pick up a few inches way up high.
