I noticed that whenever I link a youtube movie in a post it is small and square.
I sometimes visit other forums and I have noticed that when I embed a youtube video in a post there it is automatically larger. I think it is better that way.
Is there a way to do it here?

no, the embed code is controlled by the forum software and you have no access to it. the webguy has to do it. there are "width" and "height" parameter settings in the embed, currently they're set thusly:
