Another Mammoth TR, 11/11-11/14, couple picts

Damn, Ullr has definitely blessed Mammoth this fall. Another amazing long weekend in Mammoth. Oh ya before I forget, Skier0178... , you did miss all the really goood stuff as Bullet already mentioned!

See Bullet's post for Thursday. Damn good laps on Lincoln in remarkably deep soft fluff. Way deeper than Saturday for comparison.

Friday was looking like a great day. Small cloud on the top of the mtn, but it looked like it would lift. Barnballs et all (pm me your cellie) were no where to be seen at 8:30, so when Ch 2 cranked up I slid on and upward. Made a few fun runs on 3, but was really just killing time till the top opened... Got in line, would have been either 1st or 2nd box and waited for about 30 minutes with a bunch of locals/bartenders/skids. After a while they finally told us 23 was going to open first because the cloud wasn't moving from the top. Haul ass over to 23 and score about 10th chair or so. The top had been pretty scoured so the first 3 turns were a bit scratchy, but then it got really nice. Passed Tim as I was halfway down the WO's and he was halfway up the chair. Wrong cycle and never saw him again. Headed out to PII, damn that was good. Really soft and blown in. Preceeded to do laps in the Paranoids basically the rest of the day. They were really really nice.

Saturday was my worst day of this amazing season thus far and it was pretty dang fun. As skier#### mentioned it was socked in, but Lincoln was fun until they finally opened 23 in the afternoon for a few good runs. Saw Iggy in the morning and Barnballs ripping it up under CH5 in the afternoon. Unfortunately he didn't seem to recognize the guy yelling "BARNBALLS" from the lift and my friends were suitably confused. "Who is this Barnballs guy"

Sunday went BC to the Sierra Crest. Another Pow day!!! Pow day #8 out of 11 this year! Made 3 laps up on the crest with a great crew. Had a swedish top 10 in the world wakeboarder, 2 other LA student types that ripped, Mrs. Comish, and a friend who's feet were going to fall off. Another boot top pow day. CS, not as good as our day, but darn close. Snow was more sugary, but still really soft. We had a much better exit this time and I didn't try and kill any trees or photographers. Speaking of foto's, where are they CS???

Nicely done man. I take it the knee is ok? And did you guys go up the road again, or did you come off the back side of the mountain to hit the Crest?

I finally at long last got my hands on a scanner that is now residing at my place, so turnaround is going to be faster. I'll get 'em scanned tonight or tomorrow.

Commish, I think Bullet is some sort of snow magnet this year because when he's there, it snows, when he leaves, no snow.. Looks like you guys had a good time this weekend too....

Yep, the knee is ok, luckily.

So we didn't ski off the back although I reeeeallly wanted to. The group didn't have season passes so they would have had to pay. So ya, went up the road again. For some reason it seemed a lot shorter/easier this time. On the way home didn't put skins on at all and just skated/cruised home so that was nice.

Any good picts out of your bunch?

The best part is he's up skiing while his wife is home working. What a jerk.

Comish, there were a few decent pics, not as good as I was hoping. Need some more time shooting (and a relative clue) in the snow and a bigger lense would help to. Oh well. We'll definitely have to do a backside to crest day and venture a bit farther out on the crest.

Sorry to make you jealous Tuffy. Just out there skiing the good snow we have been gettin, enjoying bombing with all the rippin maggots, and earning a few turns in the BC.

Last time I checked this board was about skiing powder and posting about the trips. Hope you get some to.

CS, ya, we talked to a split boarder about a few chutes further out along the crest, near where those 2 dudes went when we were up there. They looked quite nice, although might need a little more snow to fill in as the area is apparently pretty rocky.

Edit: yep, I'm not complaining about Mrs. Comish paying the bills either. Unfortunately that arrangement will end after this year.

Almost went off the backside of Mammoth, on Sunday, to hit up Red Cone but saw it was getting tracked out by a group already there. Good to see it was you guys getting your stoke on! Only gonna get better!

barnballs, that's weird. We did Margarita it at the Mill. Probably from 3:45 - 4:45, but we were inside. Must have just missed ya. When they opened 23 we made a couple laps there so didn't end until pretty late. Won't make it for T-day unfortunately. Hope it snows before then.

MB: Ya, our group was pretty big plus there was another dude up there lapping Red Cone so it got pretty hammered that day. Would have really liked to gone off the backside... For another day.

    CS, Nice dude! Thanks!

Next time I'll bring my real camera and will return the favor.

Arty, not gonna make it till after T-day. It also doesn't look like it will snow in the near future so have to take care of a few things I have been shirking in the last few weeks...

Um, yeah. What would you call them?

The forecast isn't looking too good for Turkey Day. I guess I'll have to dig out the climbing gear and ride my bike next week.
