Come out this weekend for the Over The Falls race and check out the best lines. Should be a good time - downriver race, freestyle contest, music etc. www.fallsrace.com

Sweet. Keep an eye out for a guy in a Dagger Green Boat with a blue & white helmet running in the "Old & Slow guy long boat class".

I'm making the trip out to western PA for this. I'll be camping in the area with friends and running the lower a couple times in kayak or raft, we're taking non boaters with us. I've only been on it once before about a month ago, I'm sure it'll be packed this weekend.

We'll be watching some of the race and enjoying the party in town I'm sure.

Yeah it was a mad house when we were there August 1st, seems like a lot of people just run the loop on the lower though. We put on at noon and found swimmers almost completely empty when we got there. We'll probably kayak sunday hoping to avoid some of the crowds.

Gotta purchase some of these yet, but that's me in the orange boat middle of the page. Guy before me is a buddy who ate shit at railroad and gave up early.

yea, probably because the shuttle bus thing is a pain in the ass/expensive and the loop is not. but noon is fairly latish to do the whole thing.. most will put on earlier.

if we don't go saturday i might try and run the loop on sunday with my wife. will probably bring my camera too. though i could probably be convinced to go further if my shoulder and wife agree and we end up meeting up.

Sounds like it's worth a shot, we're always willing to add a couple more to the group. I'll be with a guy who's been down it a couple times, he and I ran it alone last time after our buddy bailed at railroad. We've both got pretty solid rolls and are comfortable in our boats, I only dumped twice last time in swimmers screwing around and I rolled right back up. We might have another yough first timer with us. I'm sure we can clean up after him though as we did alright with the other guy last time.

I don't have a clue when we'll be putting on though, if I had to guess I'd say we're gonna shoot for 10 or 11ish on sunday. I'll slap a big ski the east sticker on the playboat to make it a bit more noticeable.

Alright I'll keep an eye out, we'll be in a green civic or my buddies 4runner complete with rape sticker.

I'm in the orange LL pop, and my buddy is in a green pyrhana 420. He's on the page before me on that photo link up there.

We can always do the pm of cell numbers if ya wanna increase the chances of a meet up. We're gonna raft it saturday probably and ditch the ladies to kayak it on sunday as our women are non boaters.

Rain and low temps coupled with no drytops kept us out of the kayaks for the weekend, yeah whatever we're sallys. Figured time was better spent boozing at the campground with non boater friends.

Highlight of the trip though was rafting on saturday down the lower. We put on as the falls races were going on and paddled a little upstream to get a good view from the bottom. Just as we're watching a couple people drop, we notice the next guy coming appears to be standing. Sure enough it was that guy who paddles the inflatable yak standing up(surely you've seen this), he dropped the falls like a champ and stuck it. Dude didn't even flop on his back or anything, it was truly impressive, but I guess he's got a lot of practice by now.

Lowpoint of the trip was about 20 minutes earlier when the river ranger at the put in checked our cooler Oh well at least he didn't take the beer.......or check our drybags

Good fun was had in the raft though, surfed swimmers hard with 6 people and got a good 45 degree almost tip when I leaned hard into the hole. Also smashed the shit out of the submerged rock at rivers end much to the enjoyment of the posted guides for the commercial trips.

Running the falls was more fun when it was illegal? Now anyone can do it.
