Okay, I'll bring it up -- new U2

I know U2 is a band many people love to hate, but I'll admit they're a guilty pleasure of mine. Anybody else liking the stuff off the new album? "Vertigo" is decent, but it gets better from there. One song that was kicked off the CD, "Mercy," is especially nice, kind of like an updated "Bad."

I thought their new album hadn't been released yet.

They have sold out beyond belief. The last album was pure crap.

This is coming from a guy who liked Pop, kinda liked Zooroopa, and thinks that Achtung Baby is by far their best album (Joshua Tree is merely okay)

I think the album is out 11/23. I'll buy it. The last album wasn't one of their better efforts. I'll agree Achtung is probably their best, I finally bought Zooropa and Pop earlier this year, and those are pretty good. I've become to lazy to download songs off the net so I'll have to wait until next week to see if the new album is any good.

I have heard Vertigo 2,652 times in the last few weeks on the tv, nice job by the U2 marketing department.

So my girlfriend is in love with U2..........

GF: We're going to see them

    Me: Yeah..........no.

GF: Yeah. You're going. You'll love it. This is probably the last time they'll tour in the US

Me: Good. We don't need those politico-emo Micks running around in their tight pants and greasy hair.

    I hate U2.

Jetter, 107.7 has been playing tunes off the new disc on the hour every hour for a few days. Some of the songs have been bouncing around the internet.

I like about four songs off their last album, but the rest of the disc is weak and boring. So far this new one feels different.

I just feel like everything they've done in the past six years has sounded exactly the same.
I would not be able to listen to a u2 song and decide if it was released yesterday.....or five years ago......
it all just sounds the same

    imo

U2 for me is one of those bands that you sorta grew up with/listening to (also like REM, Replacements, etc). and ea. album from them is a distinct period in my life that instantly sends me back....

i first got into them when MTV launched ('83? '84?) w/the "I will Follow" video...I was in Jr High, and bought that album....played the hell outta it....saw them for the first time @ the Metro in Chicago when I was a freshman in HS (Boy tour? October tour?) '85, and again there on the "Unforgetable Fire" tour....followed them/saw all their tours/bought all their albums all the way trhough "Achtung Baby"...."Joshua Tree" was my Sr yr of HS....that album brings back a flood of memories....and is a great road trip album, esp if travelign through the desert or SW...."Achtung" was Soph yr of college, and also brings distinct memories, etc....(Jr yr living in London and constantly listening to this CD, and being constantly "pissed")....

anyway, i hadn't really listened to them much since "achtung", but got their last album "all that you can't leave behind", and was pleasantly surpirsed...I liked it. Felt that they had progressed better than, say REM, from that same era....it was OK...I really like the track "New York"

anyway, that's my U2 ramble....don't know if I will buy the new one or not..we shall see...

Ah, I've been listening to nothing but Mexican mariachi bands while in the middle of the Arizona desert (I'm right next to the border, in Yuma). They don't play too much U2, just a lot of the same shit.

Man, if I got really fat, grew a stink-stache, got a tan, and bought an accordion, I could make millions in Mexico.

What is this 'internet', that you speak of?

U2 as always means listening for more Edge stuff while putting up with Bono. He just won't shut up.

Green Day pretty much kill them with their new thing anyhoo.

I hated U2 as a kid but once I got into college Achtung Baby was just released and from then on I started to like the band. I've seen them in concert and thought they put on a great show even though it was in a stadium (I prefer smaller venues generally). I will most likely get the new album.
