On California NPR right now - Skiing and "Insight into an Extreme Skier"

Not sure, but this may include a replay of Oldtimer's interview....if you are outside of Cali, you can stream it here.

Should be interesting, they're going to talk about "how to get started in skiing" and "how to avoid injuries."

Too bad they're not going to cover "how to hunt cougars."

edit - Now that it's over - here's the link to the page to listen to the piece:

Lane - I know you work... what sort of job do you have that allows you to watch TV during work hours? Oh wait... you have a government job. Nevermind.

I should talk... I have a private industry job that allows me to post on here like a madman...

Actually, I'm curious if you are working these days. I know things must slow down for y'all up there as soon as snow starts hitting the ground. Are you guys still busy? Is there enough work still going on to keep you busy? Do you go to 1/2 time during the winter, are you let go for the winter, or are you kept on full time? Just curious...

Yeah, no prob. If people see this later, last year when this piece came out for the first time, they put it up on the CPR website so you could listen to it later. Despite the "do you regular ski" stupid questions, it's a pretty cool interview. The "study" that Robb is talking about he actually had a lot of us posters participate in back on Powdermag.com in 2002. Really interesting results from a scientific perspective.

Did his "Ask Dr. Robb" column ever make it into Powder? I didn't have a subscription last year....

I just sent them the following email:

Hi, I have a question for Ms. Eichlinger -

I'm new to the Tahoe area, and I plan on skiing at Squaw Valley. I know it's no Heavenly, and I'm actually rather scared by Dr. Gaffney's intereview.

I was wondering if I should skip skiing and go straight to snow blading? Do I need poles to snowblade? My cousin skis a lot in Colorado, and he says if I snow blade, i need to wax my poles? Is this true?

    Thanks,
    LM

I tried to call in, the # is 1-888-345-5959, but it's busy! DAMMIT.
