    Lyme Regis, England

Anyone have any beta on this particular town in southern England? I'm pursuing a lead on possibly spending 8-9 months there for some vocational training but I have no idea it's relation to anything else in the country or what it is like, living costs, etc etc

I'm wondering about access to Cham as well, how difficult is it to get over there for a long weekend? Cost?

Anything you guys have got would be great. Thanks.

Lyme Regis is a quiet, scenic little town on the west Dorset coastline. It's quite a way from anywhere and there are no major roads nearby. Exter is 45 minutes to the west and the bright lights of Weymouth about half an hour to the east. The latter is a popular seaside resort.

In order to get to Chamonix, you'd need to either get an overnight car ferry from Poole(an hour or so's drive) and drive the next day down there ( which makes a doable long weekend trip) or catch a flight there, which would probably mean a drive to an airport. Bournemouth International is about a 90 minute drive away (and where I reside most weekends). Not at the airport, mind.

Hit the road at, say, 8am in Cherbourg and you'll be in Chamonix for 5pm easy.

Are you a geologist/paleontologist? Can't think of any other reason to come all the way to Lyme Regis.
