I'm not sure. He's been on the road for 6 days and is around the Great Lakes somewhere...to see where they fresh water surf [emoji3] They're taking their time hitting many colleges and making it epic as they should. Classes don't start until the end of September so he (they) won't be there until then. Pretty sure SD and Baja are on the agenda as their housemate is from SD area.

Again today. Someone was calling it opening day, but it still felt pre season. Head high and bowling. No complaints. Even the left had a little wave, but the right is the one.

Absolutely awesome. After my freshman year at UCSB I stayed for summer school. Then was in Michigan and then back east for the month of August. In the beginning of September I left the mid-hudson valley NY and drove across the country to Santa Barbara. I took something like 12, visited something like 6 different friends at different schools as I zig-zagged across the country. One of the greatest times of my life. I will never forget it. Most of my buddies were on semester and had just started classes, so there was plenty of partying going on, no midterms yet. I would highly recommend anyone in that age range to do something like I did and your son is doing. It is a priceless experience. I still have the memories, and while my life is great now there are times I would love to go back to that and relive that trip. Driving across the country visiting friends in college is one of the greatest experiences a person can have. Tell your son to live it up and have a blast. He will never forget this trip.

Nice shots Ott. It has been rideable the last few days, but nothing more. It looks like we should get something solid middle of next week.

So true LDD! I'm so happy for him to have this opportunity.

He caught a fresh water wave!

That is some road tripping fresh water dedication. I crossed country in '95, and while I spent about a week not too far from the lakes, I never thought about surfing. Although I did watch this one micro wave in Chicago.

He had to surf Sheboygan because that's where Chicken Joe is from [emoji106]

I've made the trip 6 times and never spent much time in that neck of the woods. Was always on a mission to get to CO and beyond.

Training sessions resume. Friday saw some waves, but the wind line was just off shore and moved near shore making for a lot of junk to negotiate. Not super clean this morning, but clean enough. Shifty keep you on your toes but some real gems out there. Can't beat the crowd of three mid morning on a sunny Saturday.

No surf shots today, but I didn't have time to wait, and with the shifty nature, most of these were passed up. Snapped what I could and headed home. Much more fun morning than expected.

Been some folks over on ganjies but it is not ready to wake up just yet.

Skimboard style surfing. Dangerous as fuck when that thing lost its anchor tho.

Kooked it up yesterday in some waist high waves. The winds had shifted by the time I got out, but it was fun nonetheless.

Still a few fun ones out there today. Been loving the solus fins. Perfect for this small to moderate surf. Might take a break (on day 11 now) and get some stuff done around the home. Looks like we have a chance for more long period nw early to mid next week.

Strange weather we have been having. tsorms this morning and afternoon. Dont see that too often in these parts.

    Anyone else get some today...?

Swell is pumping on the slab. 7.4'@14s. A little mixed up with some wind swell bump intermixed, but still some fun solid surf out there. My session was cut short when I stood up on a wave, started down the line and hit some chop or something that threw my board up the lip awkwardly, and folded my ankle. Stage two sprain. It was a journey crawling up the beach, climbing a 60' cliff and walking back to my car. Bummed. On the couch watching Walking Dead.

    Edit: broken fibula. Fuck.

Damn! That just sucks. Broken! That's a pretty severe impact or just the right (wrong!) angle.

Not much down here. Good at the end of last week, then waist high since. I have been going anyway, but passed this morning due to winds. Funny how different it can be up there vs. down here.

Sorry to hear about the injury off. Heal up strong.

Yeah, hoping it cleans up this weekend like surfline is forecasting.

Not every where. It was pretty clean and solid where I was yesterday.

Strawjack, I think it just got me right. The entire thing was weird, but I think I somehow got front foot up in the lip at it pushed out. Seriously the weirdest big injury I've ever had. Still running over in my head to try to figure out what happened. Perfect angle I think. It was punchy out there, but not bone snapping punchy.

It is really windy today. Yesterday held off on te slowcoast until afternoon. I think it was whipping up by 10 this morning and it is pretty damn gusty out there right now. I'd expect for it to get worse before it gets better.

Ground swell will be gone by Saturday, although that Aleutians storm is spinning better than expected. So maybe another round.

LDD, there might be some trickling in down there today. But this one is that early season steep kind of thing. And even 7@14, while decent sized out on the coast, it was only chest high in SC town. By the time it wraps around conception and poles through the islands, I'd expect that to be pretty small.

Sorry about the leg, mang. Hope you heal fast. Winter is coming on us fast.

Got a nearby right point last night. Went very well. Can't wait for more swell.
