Any body know Macas and any recommendations for something somewhat similar (I know nothing compares) MUCH closer to North America. I've been recommended Nic and specifically stating at Hacienda Iguana to surf Playa Colorado.

And Atrain, we definitely need to spend more time in the water buddy!!!
Yes dude! Rad clean barrel! Just had a little trip to tofino these last few days to chase the south. Reminded me how much better other waves are but still plenty fun with some size. Any time you are out this way let's surf, and I'll let you know when I pull the trigger on a trip south. Sometime soon.

Stayed for ten days at Playa Iguanas a couple years ago with a group of beginner surfers. Just kinda jumped in last second. It was May so a busy time of year, but every time I looked at Playas Coloradas there were 30-50 surfers in the water battling over two take off spots. Nice sand bottomed perfect barrels though. I just said screw it and surfed the much bigger reef break in the centre of the bay that provided some heavy hold downs, but a fun wave. I have heard from other friends that they have been there in fall and there were only ten guys in the water at Coloradas. Maybe I just got unlucky but the perfect, consistent off shore winds made me wish I was part of Nicaragua surfing ten years ago with way mellower crowds.

Disappointing conditions with this last swell. Got one decent sesh up the coast, but the full on wind machine was in effect again. Not loving the combo set up right now. Still better than working tho.

Spent the past week exploring the Oregon coastline. Some super fun waves with some decent conditions. Saw the potential of the point. Seemed pretty mind-blowing, otherwise just a collection of exposed and sheltered beach breaks for the most part. Beautiful scenery. A long way south from my normal surf spots on Vancouver island and felt nearly identical in many ways.

My buddy used to surf up there when he lived on the gorge. He found he did not have much of a problem, and he is also a self proclaimed beater grabbing the left overs on the inside. It helps, I guess, when avoiding people with anger issues.

Swell has been filling in steadily. Seems like my windows recently have been most in less than ideal tides and times. Still had fun tonight with the new energy. I started on the beach, but after a bout a half hour hopped in the car to get myself to a reef. The swell was just pummeling the sand bottom breaks.

surfing in the cove is ok and usually doesn't cause any problems or confrontations, but if the point is firing it's best to not even think of heading out there. i've been witness to them doing all sorts of crazy shit to people. i got to experience some localism on monday at a spot down south, lots of threats and cussing towards us. most of them eventually headed in before us and luckily our buddies girlfriend was sitting in one of the cars because they pulled up right next to our cars after leaving the "locals lot" and got out and started to walk towards our rigs until they saw her.

Clowns. Down south as in SoCal? There is still some attitude around these parts, but way more mellow than when I moved here in the mid 90s. Still, it was more of an annoyance at times than much of a threat. Unless you escalated things yourself.

Firing out there today. Just had an excellent hour plus in the water. Final wave in was all the way to the beach, starting way out in the cove, bowling for most of the hundred yards plus and overhead until the very end.

And the water is super cold. Just the way I like it. It keeps the meth freaks far away. At least the more annoying ones.

Wasn't really firing. A little too small and on shore and messy. But you could see with a big clean swell it would be pumping barrels down the line fast. We moved on. Lots of people watching. A few trying to surf. Glad we did. Much better surf elsewhere. The point certainly has a reputation of hostility. Glad someone is getting waves. I'm landlocked for a couple weeks on a job.

Finally an evening with some swell and slack winds. Had a super fun session last night. Looks like this recent round of SW was just a one day thing though

Really? We've had SSW since Monday, with a little NW mixing in since Wednesday. Wonder if y'all are in some kin of shadow down there.

More coming mid next week and fingers crossed for the one developing right now which could give us some summer size for next weekend. It has been a very good May in these parts. And June is lookin to start out very nicely as well.

Reading comprehension is for those who made it all the way through high school perhaps. Another fun one today, albeit a touch smaller than the rest of the run. Second session was solo, and though te wind was up, the cliffs were just enough protection and the swell direction was perfect. So that is six days. Still not seeing how SoCal missed all of this. Family hike tomorrow, so it will be a down day, but things tick back up starting Monday.

At least it is in the part of Texas I'd likely ever be.

Been another fun run of swell. Last week I surfed one day with the tropical swell. Sheet glass up the coast. Only two out. Not much on the buoy, but little banzai lived up to its name with chest to head bowly bowls. Next day the wind came up, as did the SW. Went to shitty point. Kites were coming in, as the wind just dropped from 20 knots to 2 in a matter of an hour. I ended up solo, and it was pumping, with well overhead, kelp groomed walls that offered a nice dirty barrel section on the inside. Went back the next morning on the lower tide. It was crowded with two other guys somewhere along the 150 yards that was working. Back to glass, and overhead, although the point could have used some more water on it. Took a few days down to attend different parties but got out yesterday for a few tidy low tide barrels up near the county line. Today is busy. Still, got out at first light at the lane for 45 minutes of foggy bliss. New swell just filling in kept the crowd at two. Hell, it does not even look crowded on the cam at 7:30 this morning. Nice, long, clean, lined up head high waves with a few barrel options, and plenty of room for vertical sweeping turns. June is starting to feel as excellent as May. This coming week has some real nice conditions on tap. Too bad I don't have time to get out to the black hole, as I bet it will be solid tomorrow morning.

Hugh once said I posted shitty pics to get free gear. While the first part of the statement was true, the second never came to fulfillment.

Posting up some shitty pics for you Hugh. Hope you are out there, and packing up that free gear you promised me.

The rare North Point was in fine condition this past winter.

And the reef was in fine condition as well.

Not every wave is meant to be ridden

Missing the dog days of winter

Brother friends..........etc.etc........funny its firing in Mex. Firing in Nica and you're long boarding ( in your brain ) shitty mush and like bragging about tuorouns in bikinis -you can always spot a fucking poser. Like next you're gonna tell us they grow pineapples in Hawaii-

All your Go Pro and iPhone and camera pix yet you haven't been able to google and with time stamps and ip#'s that match your latest meth fueled delusional fantasy life. you rent a shit hole in Bishop, Max called you out and you still continue this weird persona? Why? We are all completely in AWE of you. Surprising you don't have a twitter/instagram account to blow up your ruler status.
