Boot dilemma is on hold. Been slowly working on mounting the new ski. I'm a slow mounter. The ladies always loved that. I measure and re measure. Once that happens and we get enough snow to take out the new boards, I will try the boots out as is. It has been two or more years since I skied them. Then will figure out what need adjusting. Finally realized tinkering in the garage is a bit I a waste until you have some snow time. Instead I toured in my old wren/duke/gun set up. http://powderhappy.blogspot.com'twas a good work out that will make the new set up, which weighs less than half, way more fun climbing.

As for surf, things are improving this week. I might need to wait until the weekend. Improving, but overall, quite a sub par

    Surfs up...up here.
Awesome day of head high rights after a solid week of work.
Looks like another 5 days of good to quite large surf. Going to be fun!

My last day in BCS. Listening to the new swell arrive, waiting for light for one last session before driving north...The last week has been good, really good.

^10ft+. Amazing finals to the year. Mick pulling out an incredible win in round 5 at the last second. Seabass crushing. Beers, couch, pipe finals. Lining up perfectly with a break in the swell.

Bought a patagucci hooded r3, out the door for $227.xx, and then we were finally graced with waves. Damn the surf gods want to make me poor. Pretty nice suit though at that price point, as long as it hold up as hoped. Took it for a mile jog over sand and some reef scrambling to get to a certain equine ledge. Surf was fun, if a bit lumpy. I got ten or so unscathed, and even had some fun turns. Then, as I was wondering if it was time to go, and take care of life, a crowd showed up, and sooner after I to two beatings in a row. I always forget how fucking legit that wave is. Fun times. If you like your meat red.

Watching pipe inspired! Yesterday had a so so morning session and then an incredible afternoon session. Probably the biggest and fastest floater I have ever done.
But I paid the price. I have had minor shoulder pain off and on before that goes away in a day and I haven't had any shoulder pain surfing in a few months but last evening I could feel my shoulder getting stiff and this morning I could barely put on my shirt. Can't lift my arm up past 45 degrees. Brutal.
Surfing may be done for a bit for me.
    Any advice from the contingent?

fun dawn patrol today. New swell filling in, tide a bit too high (but ok for the LB), tons of fun waves, glass, and no crowd.

Swell has filled into town. That bodes well for you southies. You might even get waves that fishwife approves of discussing.

Atrain. Sounds like a rotation issue. Try PT type stuff. Do you stretch before/after your session? Unless you are 18 or younger, you really should. Try pinwheels. Lie on side, knees together, slightly bent with arms out in front straight. slowly swing upper arm through 360' rotation. Worked wonders for me after a shoulder blade fracture.

Stretching before is something I will now be doing.
Missing more head high+ runners today. Swell lined up all week. Hopefully it mends quickly.

Actually, I find I get most tweaked in small, scrappy surf, because I'm trying to hard to make something happen. OTOH, when a slab nails me, it can be a day ender. I finished my last session at the shoe with a one, two punch.

Some decent size in town, but man does it get crowded in town when a swell finally shows during a poor season start. Paddle out at my favorite west cliff point, along with maybe thirty others. Anyway, caught a few, but sat a lot. I even caught a nice long overhead throaty barrel section to head high hits section in. Still socialized too much. Tomorrow I search out a reef where the tide will be too low and the crowd super thin.

The last couple of days has been pretty decent down here, HH - OH today at State Park with a couple of shacks for people who weren’t me.

Popped my cherry after 8 years and got nailed on Sunday by a stingray, that shit really hurt!

Is that your foot in a bucket of piss? It helps to rub some fresh warm human feces into it. Your own is best. Serious.

This weekend and next week shows promise. Of course it does. I'm on a plane Monday morning.

    Stingray sucks!
Bucket of as hot of water as you can possibly stand is what you want for a stingray.

After 24 hours driving north up the baja passed some fine looking waves at Socorro and pulled into No. County just in time for the sickest sunset and great waves, after the clean up set sent everyone to the beach. Sounds good now too...good to be back in CA, though waaaay too many people

what is a stingray sting compared to? a wasp? much worse?

cold as fuck here. 2 degrees at the beach this morning. waves the past 2 days, but I chose snow sports. looks like some fun surf for tomorrow with more reasonable temps.

I haven't been stung by a stingray but I watched a buddy in baja roll around in agony for 30 mins until we had the hot water which provided some relief. I'm confident he has a very high pain threshold based on some of the ski crashes I've watched him go through.
He was in pure, uncontrollable agony.

another great dawn patrol today, with a stellar sunrise taboot.

waves were bigger than yesterday, and more consistent until the tide came up. Tons of fun, long chest-shoulder in Cbad. I'm sure it was bigger south, but didn't have a car this morning. Perfect shape for the first 45 mins.

Specfuckingtacular sky tonight. Surf was fine, but holy shit that sunset is what got me off. Finally shit feels like home. Something overhead, semi lined up, and killer light.
