Decent surf in north OC last weekend. Around chest high. Nothing special, but it was good to get in the water. The forecast looks weak. Hopefully something for Thanksgiving week. Thanksgiving usually seems to have waves, for some reason.

It's funny, but late fall often does not deliver down here. I find myself pining for summer. I am really missing June right about now, I could go for some overhead Cotton's.

Actually had a surprisingly decent day yesterday. Sunny and warm. Was expecting literal knee high. Brought out the long board. For the 1st hour and a half it was indeed. Then the tide dropped out and the swell picked up and this nice little reef aframe turned into head high. Glassy. Great unexpected fall day. I ended up staying out until almost sunset. Nothing much in the forecast up here.

Those are always the best days. Especially when you can stay out as long as you can. I had a few days during the last swell period that were like that. Lower expectation and then surfing until dark or the arms stopped working. When you go out expecting the goods, it almost seems harder to leave pleased.

Visiting aquarium now. Indoor work later. Snowing in the hills. Surf looks clean, if a bit small, down here. Nothin but wind swell in the forecast. Gonna keep working on those trees once the sun comes back out. I am kind of enjoying this break in te swell. Allows me to wrap up the outdoor work and prep for the rainy season.

^Definitely. Even better when clearly no one else expected it and you are only sharing with a couple others.

Good waves are expected in the fall up here. Sunny, warm, clean. Pretty much the 4 of those together never line up in the fall. Mostly just the sunny and warm part that never happen. No hood all day! Day before it pissed rain all day non stop.

Nothing in north or south OC. Nothing for the next few days. Hopefully the rest of you are having better luck.

I think there was something out around here today, but mostly mid period stuff with a lot of lower period noise mixed in. Only cruised by the lane at dusk. I might give it a go tomorrow night, but will likely just keep plugging away at the fall projects. Off to the hills next week for the holiday for a little short WROD action and maybe a hike. And lots of turkey.

Hey. Leave him alone. He doesn't mean it. Really.

    Okay, confession time.

Fisherking is my alias and alter ego. He does not really exist. He is a figment of my imagination. He will try to deny this, but don't listen to him. Truth be told, he is getting a little out of control.

See, when I did not get enough affirmation from this board about my awesomeness and life dream living, I created a persona who was doing it the only way on can. In board shorts. Anyway, he now thinks he is real and is just trying to figure out stuff and fit in.

So, yeah, be easy on him,,,,,, he is not real,,,,, he will be very sad when he figures this out,,,, eating rice,,,, and stuff,,,, okay, bwahahaha,,,, questions

Hey Folks.. hacking together a surf app this weekend. Think of it as Strava for surfing. With our device you'll be able to track the length of your waves, speed etc and compare to others. I'd appreciate some feedback if you can spare 30 seconds: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CGJMYBP

Had a funny little (waves and length) session before class today at OB. Glad that when everything else is flat OB always has something.

Come on now. We saw your pics of ruffled up Maine. Did not know anyone ever surfed there unless it is sheet glass. That is one positive for where you are in my book. Conditions are often very clean. Been real clean here. But you need to travel to OB or maybe moss to get anything. Otherwise it is micro. Maybe something for Friday but I'll be schussing cord with my little guy.

guess that smiley shoulda been a winky

conditions build tomorrow to 11+ feet @ 10/11 with way too much wind. Thursday winds will be straight offshore at 20+ with overhead sets in the am, clean and tapering down to head high later as winds diminish some. Friday looks smaller with lighter winds and clean. Friday will probably be the most fun as the turkeyday surf crowds will be gone, as will the currents and raging winds.

All my posts require a winky, but I'm a rebel, so fuck that.

11@11? Which direction is the wind? Nedick River (?), just north of York Beach, past the split of 1A and the road back to 1, by the place that has the cheap lobster rolls, the beach to the left and north of the bridge, sometimes gets a killer long board wave when it is big victory at sea. You know where I mean? Surfed it twice over the years. So much fun when just outside the river the sea is full on raging.

Dressing made. Cranberry sauce made. Apple sage butter breast rub made. Turkey bought. Pumpkin roasted and puréed. Just got to lube the chassis, stuff the bird and make the pie. Let the heavy drinking begin.
