Anywhere to catch the SSE or steeper SW in south SD this weekend? We'll be staying with friends in North Park but I want to get to the coast at some point.

IB will probably be pulling this in but I think there's some smaller SW in the water so places like OB pier/dog jetty might have some waves. I'm sure someone's catching waves on the LJ reefs but it's usually crowded with tight takeoff zones on some punchy waves. O'side was fun this morning, nothing epic but got some good turns in.

Shit. Your just saying that cause I'm coming up for an inspection soon. The west coast contingent has sent me to determine if it is as good as you claim. I was ready to deliver an honest and thorough report.

Will be there in less than a week. And man is it hot in the city. Hoping points in between will not be as warm and a well trajected 'cane spins up while in route. I need me some classic head high river mouth goodness.

Oh, an Pig I like that one as well. Pretty much defines that break in my mind. Real hard to line them up, so at that size and power, and rarely more than five people in the water, quite a few sneak through. Meanwhile, at 38th, which was firing off near perfect 8' barrels, about 300 folks make sure you get plenty of shots of people killing waves.

i'd take hh anywhere. the sand at York is in place, and not, for many a nice a-frame as well. the left along nubble could be titties. may go grovel in the am just for yucks. won't need any rubber till mid/late September with the way the water is now.

    keep me posted

Fun waves today, walked down the beach and shared empty waves with my buddy for his birthday. Our peak today had 0 people on it and chest+ glassy waves, the best birthday present I could think of for him. Last night Cbad from 7:30pm-8:30pm, inconsistent but lucked into several set waves. Yes, it was completely dark and very lonely toward the end.

Lining them up in real life is probably more challenging than me mind surfing the hell out them on the interwebz.

PS - I just slayed that wave about 10 times while typing this

ended up spending some time yesterday morning/afternoon checking out different beach/surf spots in La Jolla, but didn't paddle out anywhere. Surf at Windansea looked pretty big, like almost overhead, but was so crowded it didn't even look fun. Also interested in taking the LB out at PB Point sometime, as well as surfing Bird Rock after my recon.

Ended up just surfing in Cbad later in the afternoon for a couple hours. Not too crowded, super fun sets coming through pretty consistently. Heading out right after work before this SW drops off.

PW - think I'm doing San O Wed. night FYI

Was swimming up in Kennebunk/Kennebunkport area recently. Warmest water I can ever remember. No wetsuit needed to stay in for over a half hour. Can't remember that ever.

^^^^^^more swell down there, but also more onshore/cross shore wind maybe. maine will be wind challenged as well, cept for a coupla spots i know, but just like a few weeks ago, the timing of the right tide at the right spot is completely fucked by my work schedule on saturday. maybe i'll bring my headlamp to the ogt and surf at 330 am out by 5am when 6 dozen doodz show up to paddlebattle the stomach high short period grovel sets.

i may seriously show up there at 430am tho and get an hour while the tide is low enough. should be short boardable at least, yay

new hammy will most likely get blocked but do better with the sw winds. gonna watch swell direction closely. i'd take thigh high clean at any tide down there to waist plus with limits and constraints in maine. fuck i wish salisbury was gonna get some swell. i could really use some pitchy sand spitting shallow power right now.......

come on up! drew may be helping me take gutters down sunday

beers and bbq of course as well.

Last weekend was another good one, surf wise. Got Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday sessions in. Overhead the whole time, and trunkable. It really does not get a whole lot better around here.

It looks like this weekend should be good too. I should get a session tonight at Uppers, and tomorrow and Sunday too. Sunday it might be Newport, as I might be sick of the drive, but it should be good either way.

    Hope everyone else gets some.

things are looking a touch better for tomorrow am here in the (only) one syllable state. a bit more west to go along with the south may keep things a bit less textured.

will be out between 5-7am york, unless the wind looks more south. then it'll be ogt from 430-6am.

had a weird session last night right after the super high tide. refraction off the cliffs made the waves really weird for the first hour plus I was out. Had some fun, fast, long LB rides though. Nobody out either, which was a nice change of pace.

Missing this swell as I'll be in UT this weekend. Hoping it's still good early next week.

Haha does that mean you've been in the water 4 times since anyone else?

heh, no, 4 posts in a row

however, this morning didn't suck. pulled up at 7am after letting the tide fill in a coupla hours. tide was still a bit low and what was coming thru was clean, a bit warbled and close together in the knee to thigh range. then all of a sudden the tide filled in just right, the wind went just a tad more offshore providing some super fun clean lined up knee/thigh with an occasional waist high set. the inside sections were surprisingly zippy. fun

Wednesday-Friday could be waist high+ with good winds.

I sacked up and went to Tourmaline alone this morning, around 7am. I counted 50 people in the water, which is maybe 1/4 of the num from the last time. It was a really pretty wave, but about shoulder high, so I got myself psyched out. I did paddle to the inside and rode a little. Concentrated on angling, I think I can do this, but I have terrible awareness of what the wave is doing. I'm trying to go right when left is better, the wave is at an angle to the shore it seems. Also not good at getting back on the board after turtling.

Sooo I went out and got myself tired and frustrated and not feeling very accomplished at all. Will repeat tomorrow.

Drove by Sunset Cliffs on the way back, it looked so nice, hardly anybody in the water and a couple of true beginners. The tide was up and splashing water pretty hard against the rocks though. Wondering if I want to try to get in with that going on.
