Anyone ever been to Chumleys? Corner of Barrow and Bedford in west village. Cool place with great burgers. It's an old speakeasy so there are no signs or information of any kind (for you zagat-heads) F. Scott Fitzgerald used to hang out there and do some writing, pre-blackout. Just an idea.
Also, if there is interest in a private maggot viewing, I have a lot of space and seating in my place on 14th. The cover is minimal, the beers are even more reasonable and you can bum squeef from the rastas on the first floor, if that's your thing. Would be honored to have my home blessed by urbanite maggot faithful.
You know, there's like a butt-load of gangs at this school. This one gang kept wanting me to join because I'm pretty good with a bowstaff.
Yeah, Chumley's could be cool. I haven't been there in quite awhile. Good Middle Eastern place right next to it, too (what's the name?).
Or your place. I already proposed such a viewing to my wife, and she was, how do you say, less than enthused.
Where are you on 14th?
edit: Moustache is the name of that place next to Chumley's.

I don't know the name of the middle eastern place but I know the one you speak of.
14th b/t 2 and 3. 2 blocks from 4-5 express. I live with 3 other dudes, all ski enthusiasts who went to school in Vermont; would be psyched to throw down at our place. Also would be easier on the wallet.
Either way, let's make it happen.

Four skiers who live on fourteenth? Shit, that's almost twice as many people as I know of who live in this entire city.
How long have you been here?
[//quote]
Just moved in. I have only been in the city since labor day. Lived in CO last year with Gonzo. One guy I live with has a place at Stratton; strategic planning on my part has put me in one of the better NYC situations.
Many an NYC weekend exodus will take plae from 212 E 14th this winter. All stragglers welcome.

My advice: don't go to Stratton.
Sorry, that's a reflexive response when I see 'Stratton'.
Well, let's get some more NYC area input on this, find out what the deal really is with the TGR show (and yes, the NJ show, too), and see what happens.

Absolutely. Count me in. Honc, you're gonna want to check out Magic this year, right up the road from your buds place at Strap-on.Originally posted by Honc

Don't know a lot about Stratton, probably a little shee-shee. I know that there are a couple of places right there. Any good bc in that area? My east coast know-how is resigned to Maine and northern VT.
We'll get this figgered once final details of screening are published. Might be more fun just to do it at my place anyway.

Yes, chi-chi and Flatton. That's all you really need to know. $75 day ticket, too.
[//quote]
That would truly blow if they charge you for the movie and a $20 cover too. I'm probably out too if that happens. I'll just buy tickets at the door unless their's some sort of deal going on. I've already ordered the DVD like 2 months ago, still waiting. I saw the thread that they are shipping, hopefully I'll see it soon. Would rather wait to see it on the big screen first.Originally posted by Dexter Rutecki

I can't hit the Boken show though, plans that evening already that I really can't get out of it(I tried, I really did).
If you guys do a mini showing, I'm there.

mmm...pricey and flat, is there a long line at the "free balls-kicking" booth?Yes, chi-chi and Flatton. That's all you really need to know. $75 day ticket, too
probably have to pay for that too.

Free balls-kicking would almost be preferable.
So I guess the question now is how much would one pay to be kicked in the balls rather than pay the $75 so ski Stratton. I have a legitimate stake in this so honesty would be appreciated.Free balls-kicking would almost be preferable

I don't know...$15?
Nah, it's not THAT bad...It's kind of a lamer Mt. Snow. Great shopping, though! It's very family-oriented, lot of AWESOME teen programs...shit like that.
If Magic is that close, I'd prolly hit that first. I've actually never been, but I've heard good things.
edit: I'm finding the concept of paying to be kicked in the nuts rather than have to ski at Stratton pretty funny. Thanks.
Can somebody spot me $15? heh.
Magic it is. Next stop on the www tour of "Bored out of my cube Thursday"....skimagicdotcom.

According to the website, Ski Magazine says, "Magic casts a spell on all thrill-seeking experts."
hmmm...I wonder what the thrill seeking experts at epicski.com have to say on the matter...I'll be back

I may get railed for this one...
... but I have minimal gripes against Stratton. I ski there a lot mainly because it is an Intrawest Resort and I can ski there for a decent discount w/ my Mountain Creek pass.
Mount Snow... didn't see the attraction when I was there.
Magic Mountain... Aldo has to take me there this season (right, dude??)
Yes sir. My pleasure.Originally posted by road trip

Seems like NYC activity is increasing. The Peculiar Pub isn't touristy that I know of. Just jammed with a lot of beer. Any place would be cool though. How about a final spot to be picked by Sat or Sun.
The TGR party still sound OK, but a private showing would be cool too. I imagine Avalon could ring up a big bill. Still time to decide yet.
As for lower VT spots, don't rule out Bromley. Forget Stratton.
I've sprayed on and on about Magic. It is hands down the best mountain in southern Vermont. Nice steeps and great trees and a bunch of very tight glades - even has a few nice drops to boot.
The only problem is they need snow (limited snow making) for it to be good. But that's true for all of the east in my opinion.
Pray for snow -
elevens
why make ten turns when you only need to make NONE!
What's all this talk about Hoboken? Maxwell's still there?
