    The Past Summit Memories Thread

So the whole TJ story was dredged up a bunch of crazy BC summit memories.

    - Trying to explain to friends and family that I was driving hundreds of miles to ski with a bunch of people I'd never met.

    - Me and ZBO skiing at 49N. Running into Skiergirl & friends. Hitting 65+ (according to GPS) on the main face of 49N and still not being able to keep up with ZBO.

    - First time skiing at WH20 and hanging out in Nelson.

    - Meeting more maggots for the charity vert day at Red, later won by gincognito. (But I managed to raise the most bread: and got 2 days at Extremely Canadian for it. Very nice!)

    - Trying to keep up with the P2P boys and Chris Winter through the trees at Red, getting lost (too slow) and crashing over a cliff and onto a huge pile of slash.

    - The Valhalla cat trip. As documented in the other thread.

    - The famous Cletus / Gonzo (or was it Honc?) cave picture. I can't remember if that gem ever made it on to the board or not.

    - Huge party at the Mexican resturant in town. The first time I saw more than 10 (it was actually closer to 30) people in the same room who met over the internet. I can't remember the resturant's name... too many margaritas...

    - The first viewing of "Ski Your Ass Off 2" at Powderpyg's place in Nelson. Great party.

    - Knee to thigh deep at Retallack: my 9th day of skiing in a row on that trip.

It was certainly that trip that made me a maggot for life.

Anyone else got any summit gems?

That weird hot rock bowl stew thingy I ate there. That was good shit.

Deciding after ripping pow all day at Retallack that it was a good idea to embark on an 8 hour drive through the night to Golden following TJ in his asstek.

Uber getting hurt on the first day at WH2O and going home early and me giving a ride home to a hot local MILF hitchhiker.

Commando mission to obtain pasta (and oreo doublestuff) with you, ZBo, and skiergirl.

The old legomobile dying right at the start of the fun lat year.

Gettin down with divegirl at the first summit party.

The hardcore first day at Alpine following 666 to his secret stashes.

Summit #1, riding Germ chair with big ole honking AT gear hangin off my feet, FRZ turns to me and says, "Where's the tele gear Pinner?" to which I replied, "Telemarking is stupid."

That catch phrase caught on so well I had a t-shirt and 100 stickers made that say nothing more than "Telemarking is stupid."

I'm thinking of selling them to AT skiers and snowboarders for $2 apiece. If I've ever skied with you, you get one for free. Drop me an email and it's yours.

    From last years "EC mini"

Hucking a 25 footer on my first run with the EC crew.

Getting kicked off the MRG single for ducking a rope and hucking a cliff.

Powder11's trying to rail slide a downed tree and nearly losing an eye.

Powder11's sliding of a decent sized double side ways with a very tight LZ and not quite making it.

There was so much fun to be had at the last summit. My favourite memories include:
    * Watching Chas flying out of control straight down the Wall with his mouth wide open in fear
    * Trying to work out what the hell Laght was saying. And failing.
    * Hearing Gin recount his fearful beater down Upper Cham
    * Skiing Extra Chute at Squaw
    * Watching Up and Down sliding the funboxes at Alpine. The guy's 56yo. Amazing.
    * Getting beat by SheRa at 'San Francisco Rush The Rock.' Embarrassing.
    * Mrs Roo and Petra skiing Sisters Chute at Kirkwood
    * Seeing the look on Uber's face when we started talking about Chas' manboobs.
    * Building kickers all over the damn map
    * Meeting the Line Mothership Boobie Girl in Sports Ltd
    * Hosting Spats for an evening. The guy has some interesting stories to tell.
    * Leaping around in the scenic lift with Brownmonkey at Reno screeching "YOU'RE HORNY, LET'S DO IT, RIDE IT, MY PONY" and then watching the horror-stricken expressions of the family who got in at the next level
    * Chilling with Splat and eating huge burgers at the Beav at lunchtime.

1st summit: Explaining to my dad that hardrider and I were heading to Utah to ski with people we met on the internet, to which he said "cool I'm coming".
Setting up a room and fronting a week’s rent just hopeing the people that said they would come and pay for their share would. telenater, estobum, estobums bro, and bn all showed up as planned. We even picked up one more for a night since 1080superstar (funken) wanted to hit Alta 1 more time with us. Hitting BLT gap with pinner, phunk, hardrider, powho?, punani and splat and having the term "kush it" start. (actually still have the snakedog I was given for eating shit on the jump )

Summit 3: The Hoss Hogg party for charity....loved it.

Phone tag with Kush as I was dealing with a flat tire in the middle of nowhere NV.

    Wakeup call?

Alta, Vagina finda witness, skiing with Skiergirl and having a unnamed local show us some great stashes. Beers with Pinner at the goat.

Beers with Pinner and Professor (and meeting Lemon Boy) at the Brighton Telecomp (that was the hardest green run that I've ever skied). Seeing Hop originate the "Future School." Meeting Mr. Powder for the first time.

    Summit #3:
Skiing every day of the summit.
bc: Tallac with Geoff, SheRa, Gimpy, Arty. Powderhouse (with powder) with Gimpy, Rehabit and wife
Alpine: "warm up run" following Skier666 and seeing Flanker double up an overhanging multi-layer cornice.
KW: OB madness with the largest group ever to ski West shore.
    Squaw: Charging hard.

There's far, far too many to name, but here's a few that stick out:

Summit #1: missed it due to technological failures

    Summit #2:
    - after waiting around for hours in the airport at Spokane I finally meet Big E and learn that him and his buddy are super-cool guys.
    - all the super cool people in Nelson who seemed to genuinely care about my mishap
    - the ride to the cat drop off with Splat and Weibo, and getting freaked out by those yahoos.
    - the backroom at the hostel where no one present will ever run for Congress.

    Utah Mini Summit:
    - Friday's first run with Sponcered and Barnballs with that f'ing incredible snow! Buzz really kept his word about bringing some good snow!
    - GT40 showing us around Snowbasin on Sunday - that guy had us getting fresh tracks ALL day long, first to last chair.
    - Putting the third set of tracks down Lone Tree chute (after GT40 and the patroller).
    http://www.biglines.com/photos/blpic18875.jpg

    - The people - all y'all rocked! Too many to name...
    http://www.biglines.com/photos/blpic18858.jpg

    - The unexpected fresh tracks at Castle on Sunday

    Summit #3
    - The wrecked Tacoma
    - Roo and his posse
    - Kick @ss corn in that west-facing bowl somewhere at Squaw
    - Chaz's look of death when he got way more air then he expected off the cat track at Alpine
    - Mrs. Roo's bliss in the half pipe
    - The feeling of absolute content and ease while riding up the lift at Squaw with Lego and Divegirl
http://www.tetongravity.com/usergall...291/Squaw3.jpg -this pic shows a barely discernable Divegirl eating crap just right of the big tree in the middle.
    - SheRa yelling at me to hike up to West Shore and ordering me around with a German accent- "You vill like!!"

I could go on and on! Good times, good times (except busting myself up at the 2nd Summit).

    Edit: To ad pics

Never have made a Summit, just the Utah Mini(s). Not happening this year either, baby girl to be born at that time frame.

Mini #1: Remeber meeting Splat for the first time and know it was him by "FKNA" to 2P and myself in the Alta parking lot. Headed into the bar and you all got me so drunk while I was still in my knee brace, I ended up not even using crutches (dumb). Best fun I have had sitting in a bar all day. Maggots started coming in or should I say limping in around noon. PTTP tour, lots of fun.

Mini #2: Holy shit, it simply went off!! We had the best snow we could ask for, ton of new maggots met, nice give away in GMD and seeing a shitton of smiles from ear to ear. Mad fun boarding with all of you, Basin was off the hook, freshies galor. Skied all day with Uber, AH, Doger, Teledave, GT, Meats......... may have been the best day on the moutain ever.

Mini #3: Kicks off soon, more fun to be had!

Summit #1 (never been to a summit since, cause like Foreigner says "nothing like the first time")

Summit Saturday - those there know what I'm talkin' 'bout. The GREATESTday in Maggot history. They'll never be a day like it; ever again!! The maggots owned Alta that day from first chairs to a gazillion bomb holes under Bad News to MD's party afterwards.

Nough said; day still brings a chill to my spine!!!

My two favorites too... It was really nice to be the last guy off the cliff too, attempting to land in between all your guy's holes was really fun. Of the two though, pow11's double stage, bad take off, to snag a branch, spin around, hit a tree, launch second stage sideways and almost lose a ski. The best part was somehow his hat got stuck about 5 feet out of reach up a tree.

    Word.

That was a sickety sick day for sure. Among many other notable achievements, that's also the day Clack pulled his famous double backflip off the fire escape.

Honestly, the whole week was legendary, and I will always remember it very fondly. I'm glad we set the bar so high. Hope all the other Summits are at least coming close.

-At the top of Red w/ snow dog and bomber, having no idea where to explore, and having beaver ski up and say hey, are you guys maggots? then proceeding to get the full on "locals stash tour"
-walking away from that day plenty stoned, and now holding 6 or 7 fat doobies
-fromthe back room at the Dancing Bear... (cletus)"so uh... you wanna hang out?(cletus)
-from the bar after the charity day (Z-BO)dood, I just booked you and the mrs a room at the hostel... you're stayin(Z-BO)

    -From Tahoe
-Pulling into the lot at Squaw day one, only to have Splat pull in right next to us "FKNA!!!!!!"
-meeting up with the whole crew after lunch that day and skiing the rest of the day, places we wouldn't have found on our own (minus the mine field Splat led us through )
    -keyhole at Alpine
-meeting random local at Alpine same day and going beyond keyhole, and touring through Pauls??? cliffs area??? it was sick
-BC Day w/ Bomber, Nater, Gimpy and my dog, and finding fresh 3 weeks after the last storm
-smuggling beers into the (forgot the name of that) bar and then... well I forget, but I know it was fun!

Only made the first summit as work took away my unrefundable deposits on the others! Hope to make Jackson as the room is already reserved.

    1. Organizing the SLC summit -- from AK -- for a group of people I had never met minus Pinner who I ate a pastrami sammich with in Manhattan of all places. Getting 70 of them to show up for various dates and everyone realizing that it was one of the greatest weeks we'd ever had.

    2. Staying with FRZwater -- thanks again dude! Skiing with Odin quite a bit that week and making other friends that I continue to stay in touch with today.

    3. That Karaoke bar was some of the funniest shit ever and sponsored by Endlessseason.

    4. Parties hosted by Xover, FRZ, and MD9.

    5. We got discounted lift tickets everywhere, but no one came through better than Powstash at Canyons.

    6. Giving POWDER tons of shit until Splat stepped up and said he'd come out for part of the summit. He came out for a day or two, left, and then came back for the rest! He's been around ever since.

    7. Skiing all those days with fully torn Meniscus, LCL and MCL leaving me to turn primarily in one direction and down alot of anti-inflammatories. Fack, I helped plan the damn thing, I couldn't cancel just because I only had one leg to really ski on.

Skied with many maggots all over the country since then -- always had a good time.

Since the skiing has been pretty well documented already:

My first ride up the gondola at Snowbasin with a car full of maggots I've never really met before (not naming any names). Hey, how's it goin', small talk, anxious looks being exchanged by the other maggs; me, "Well since I'm the unknown person here I'll go ahead and let you know that a safety meeting is perfectly acceptable with me." Unbelievable how fast people can get their gloves off and their pockets opened. Good rides were the rule of the day in the ganjola.

Of course I was wandering around in the trees above trying to find my fucking pole and missed that whole thing...
