Another good tip is to tag the overhanging branches and whatnot with reflective material as well...

If you have a bc bro code these things are wicked cheap. If anyone is looking to pick up one of these lights, hit me up.

I am looking for a good helmet mounted light for Moto and Mtn bike. The Magicshine lights look good, and are quite a bit cheaper than other lights out there. Has anyone used them and the nightrider products? What are your opinions?

I assume when you say 'flashbacks' you are referring to the flashback commonly associated with PTSD?!?! Jebus, flying monkey is ungodly tough under absolutely perfect conditions.

Although, I guess it wasn't 'perfect' when I rode it. I was advised not to ride it by local bike shop as it apparently was in rotten condition, but shit, talk about high consequence lines!!! I was scared I was gonna fall as I was walking down them.

I'm pretty sure this is still the brightest tail light out there, yes?

Hahah night riding is awesome! I do it whenever I can borrow my dads light. I was riding once and the cord came out of the battery right in the middle of a super tech section sketchy

Night riding rocks! Sometimes I'm mad that in the summer day lasts until 10 because its almost too late to night ride once it gets dark!

ha, i wonder if we were on some of the same group rides? i lived in Mill Valley for 10 yrs and did many a night ride on Tam. Many exciting chases from ranger rick flying down illegal single track on Tam on a Yeti hard tail with limited brakes....

ah, i moved to SF in 95 and MV in 01, so probably not. but put a lot of time in on night rides back in the day with the WTB and Swobo crews...good times.

I still have my Nightrider light from back then, and my $30 Petzel puts off a higher beam than that ancient thing

I was looking at both the Niterider 700 pro and the Baha Designs Strykyr single headlight helmet systems. Do the new LED systems offer a significant light advantage over HID or is is mostly about weight and burn time? I have an old Niterider dual mr11 system which puts out nice light, but it is heavy and runs out of power too soon. If you had your pick of lights, what would you buy?

Living in Vancouver, we ride year round, so for night riding I decided to get a Light & Motion ARC NiMH HID light and just wear it on my helmet. It works great for all the riding I do on the Shore. I haven't found a need to add more light with a handlebar one yet.

I love night riding - I ride a trail so much more at night then during the day since I'm focused on what's ahead and things look different. Often trails don't look as challenging.

Pussies. It isn't night riding if you use a light.

Night riding is great in the off seasons and trying to squeeze in an extra ride on trips. Have a pair of Amoebas, helmet and handlebar, that make it a blast. Best night ride was Slickrock in Moab, trying to find the white paint stripes or ripping Kessel in Fruita. Well worth the investment to get extra rides in the fall when the days are shorter.

It kicks ass. We have a lot of late fall/winter/early spring times here when things get way too gloopy to ride during the day, but freeze up enough to hit at night. Makes for a year round riding season, for the most part.

We had a craptacular warm winter last year, and it sucked. Things staying not quite cold enough much of the time to freeze up the ground enough. Otherwise, you're riding in thick peanut buttery mud.

With one on the way, I figure I will soon get into night riding for the same reason.

Plan on buying 2 magicshines, one for the bars and one for the helmet.

I finally saw the appeal a few years ago, when completely drunk at our campsite on 18 road, I saw these crazy bright UFO-type lights in the sky above me - a train of about 6 riders rallying down Joe's Ridge. I was sold right there.

Only got out once last year but plan to do a bunch more this fall. Also heading out on a full-moon ride this Monday, looking forward to it!

And remove their tires and saddles, and ride bare rims and seatless posts. They also use really old, dried-out and rusty chains, and derailleurs that are not adjusted properly. Plus, they duct-tape their feet to the pedals and their hands to the bars.

The true core dudes cut open their abdomens and ride with their viscera hanging out. Then they finish the ritual of seppuku at the end of the ride. Rock-Paper-Scissors determines who will be the "second" for the first one to reach trail's end.

Around here the night riding is pretty well lighted. We're starting to get that moosefog around 11. Last night I almost hit 2 moose and saw 3 bulls and 2 cows. The light was ok but the moose and bears on the trail up the objective hazard.
