MPG tax, if your car has a certain low MPG rating you pay a tax, that money goes to funding for clean energy, seems smart to me, you get a more fuel efficent car you save more money, you choose to get a gas hog it cost more, it helps the enviroment, and reduces independence on forien oil

isn't the high price of gas enough? if you drive a gas guzzler you pay through the nose anyway. AND they already tax the shit outta gas. I think if people can't figure out to buy an efficient car now they never will.

Actually the federal government subsidises gas alot, I believe states tax it

Thats right! It's called environmental tax, but the money rather goes to rebuilding the east or filling up federal deficits.
