    The Great PNW Snow-chase

Any snow anywhere in the PNW? Got some time off next weekend and would love to spend it on snow. Damn the cold that arrives with no moisture...

Its cold as fuCk, and we got some moisture rolling in. Snow is in the forcast for Baker for the next week at least, so there is a chance. The only problem, is that it actually looks like it is coming in too cold to build a good solid base, baker ussually needs 2-3 feet of the heave wet slop inorder for most of the rocks to get well covered, but cross your fingers and we will see

Meh, yeah, although I've nerver found baker to be rocky at all. In fact I got much more damege at snowbird alone (1 day) then all of teh season at baker. All I need is 5 inches and a ride. Well, skis might help too. Boots are always good too. But...taht's not hard to bring...

    Pass Conditions:
Snow showers tonight expected in the Cascades, with snow levels near 500-1,000 feet. 1-3" expected from about Snoqualmie Pass southward.

Slowly getting there. I heard it's snowing around Olympia and south of there to Portland tonight.

    Pollard,

Drop some knowledge when you return. If there is snow now, it should be there next weekend if the cold forecast holds up. Hope you have a good trip. I know Z-BO was gonna hit up Ranier yesterday, so I'll see what he has to say and post that as well.

Willing to travel to where ever I hafta to get some good early snow.

Your best bets for hikable turns are Chinook Pass, Blewett Pass and Baker. I'll bet we'll need next week's storm to make it.

    Thumbs up

For Mt. Hood south to Will. Pass--the "up to 6" report was just changed to 4-8, so I guess that is a plus...also 1-3 additional possible for tonight...

    Whoa yea!!!!

...but, I'll echo what timmay said, we need our traditional wet snow, this blows off anything that needs to get covered. But no complaints, right?

Steep- I lost the URL to the site with the snow report for the cascades. All I got are a few weather.com sites, the santiam pass road report, and Mt. Hood's 3 day snow forcast site w/ freezing levels. Not the good one that you got the 4-8 inches from. What's the URL? SNOW BABY!

Didn't make it up to mission today. I woke up to a inch at my house and figured blewett would be really good. hiked above blewett but there wasn't enough snow. only 6 inches. There were clouds socked in a mission all day and its supposably been dumping. I'm gonna run up to the base when I get some time and hope that the webcam clears up.

Actually, NOAA says there really isn't a chance for snow at Baker for up to a week. We've got the cold air, but its pushing the jet stream south -- Stevens barely got hit, Snowcrummy got some, and further south even better, as shown by all the Oregon snow.

The view of Hood from the Washington side (traveling east) was absofukinlootely stunning yesterday. The sky cleared in the afternoon, all that was left was a big white snow covered volcano against a crystal blue backdrop. I was sportin' some serious wood!!!!!!!!!!
