Film Scanner - want to digitize all my negs/slides

I'm looking for a reasonable quality film scanner on the cheap that I can start digitizing my negatives and slides with.

What I really want is the ability to load a negative strip or multiple slides in and have it scan all of them to speed the process along rather than having to do each one individually.

Any ideas what to get? Looking to keep the budget around $200. Used is OK.

4000dpi seems preferable.... but I guess 3600 or 3000 is acceptable for 35mm if dMax is good, eh?

    summit:
i believe i have a minolta dimage dual scan iii around here somewhere. i used it to scan slides (has a tray), but it can also do film & negatives. i recall the dpi was somewhere around 3,000.

it did produce quite solid quality images from my slides, although don't expect any home scanner to do the work of a professional drum scan.

that said, if you just wanna get your images into digital form, it's a good option.

be prepared to spend more time doing dust removal than scanning.

if you are interested, i can dig around in the closet for it. haven't used it in years.

I recommend you send out and have them done by someone else. Something like scancafe. I own a Nikon 9000, but buying one isn't within the budget stated. Sending things to scancafe probably is.

Summit, what did you end up doing for your scans? Did it work for you?

I have an HP flatbed scanner with film/slide/MF inserts in the lid. Works fine for me.

Terrified of the time commitment for this digital jong to scan 2000+ slides myself...
