    Mammoth, 06/23/10, Day Trip Report

I made a day trip to Mammoth yesterday. I am fortunate to live close enough to make day trips to Mammoth. I was also fortunate to run into Splat.
After taking a few warm up runs, I joined him on an excursion to the scene of the crime, Paranoids. It was at Paranoids two years ago that Splat's ski stopped on a hidden shark's fin rock, but his knee kept going. Well, yesterday he got back on the horse.
First, we had to head down Wipeout 3.

    Splat:

Next, we had to traverse over and hike up to P3.

There is still good snow at Mammoth. I would be there today, but I had a meeting I couldn't get out of. If you were there today you might have seen Splat or our tracks in P3. I plan to be back at Mammoth tomorrow and Saturday. Splat will be out sailing off of the coast tomorrow.
It was fun skiing with Splat again. Hope to see you and other maggots there next week. If you see someone on 186 Lhasas, ask for change.

I am always missing you by a day or something. I was back at Mammoth on the 22nd. Couldn't get Mrs G2A to do P3. Would make the effort to catch up on Saturday but will be at Lassen. Next Mammoth day looks to be 7/2 or 7/3 for me.

    Nice job slaying it Vets.

still lookin' good... I'd be down there this weekend if I didn't have other plans.

looks like the gondy is supposed to reopen and 23 is closing so climax should get smoothed out by skier traffic pretty quick

Looks like Mammoth is hold snow well enough, I will be there closing weekend, knee permitting. Here is a Mammoth report from Tony Crocker from first tracks...lots of pictures

Good to see you too. I went back today. Climax was even better than Friday and the upper mountain is holding up much better than the lower mountain. However, they are still doing a great job farming snow and salting what is left on the lower mountain.

P.S. I'll be heading back for more this Wednesday.

Interesting choise of ski for Splat ??? of all the manufactures in the market place now days he chose those. Clearly more TGR maggots and lurkers should investigate those sticks.
We, the RATBAGGERS, formally axcept our duty is to trigger avalaches on all skiers ...
