How would you compare the Rocker 2 to the Icelantic Keeper? I'm about to pull the trigger on one or the other.

I'm 6'2 about 200 lbs, I'm thinking the 192.

^^^I would think gypsy is closer than keeper. Keeper is supposed to be stiffer drifter and more like megawatt?? Where the gypsy is almost symetrical. On paper sollie is not that way but after looking it over that's first thing o get and with center mount it is

^^^^^Uh, hard to say since I have not seen keeper or gypsy. But rocker is pretty stiff underfoot anyways and heavy (11.5 lbs in 192). Still have not mounted mine, not sure what I will do since I did not like 192 bent.

FYI, 192 Rocker2s don't ski anything like the 192 bents. I thought the 192 bents were very...blah, and I love my R2s.

Here's what comes to mind right off the top of my head.

192 R2s are stiffer, heavier, super damp, and hold an edge way better than the 192 bents. Once you put the R2s on edge they really want to accelerate. They like to go fast, and are super stable through everything. I was shocked at how damp they are. Even when the tips flapped around (and not a ton), they still felt super stable

192 Bents were lighter, softer, really lively, and could not hold an edge at all. I've skied both lengths, and really didn't like the chattery, windshield wiper feel. The bents got bumped around like crazy. I'm sure the bents would kill it in bottomless pow (which I didn't get to ski them in), but where it really counts is in the variable, and less epic conditions. The R2s won out big time due to their versatility.

The biggest issue with the R2s is that most people think they are the same ski. Not the case. They are totally different. For a little insight, my big pow ski the last 3 seasons has been a pair of Protests. The Protests are the shit, but the R2 is just as good in pow and WAY more versatile.

i totally disagree with everything TCK just said, just for the record. from my experience, if you aren't using this ski in pow only and you don't get flippy spinny, this is not a ski to look at. not sure why the team athletes have been pushing it so hard, but i did not find it fun in anything but deep freshy fresh.

Thanks for info. I mounted super 7 at -2 but renegade at 0. Any thoughts on mount? The -6 to -8 seems barely far enough back. I mean I get center mount bit one thing I hated with bent was the huge tail when mounted at -4 or -5. I think -8 or -9 maybe. I never ride switch. I could use your thoughts.

maybe i just need more time on them, maybe the 192 skis totally different than the 84, i dunno, the day i skied them was well over a foot of fresh snow though, and while they were fun (a lot more fun than even a JJ, another ski i don't like at all) in deep snow, i was totally unimpressed outside of the deep fresh snow.

Just pulled the trigger on a pair of 192 Rocker2s. Just need to decide what bindings to put on them.

Look snowmaster, I have 4frnt, armada, DPS, pmgear, and support indie all the way. This isn't about companies it's about skis and I'm just looking for more advice before I mount em. Political asshattory is a different thread

Having skied both last season, I'd have to say that this is true if my memory serves me. Keeper is a stiff ski that likes to crush anything in its path, R2 is more about versatility and playfulness.

I've skied plenty of skis in my day and some of the best are made by big companies (Volkl and Head come to mind). You come off as a hipster douche bag saying shit like this.

There are plenty of independent skis the are crap and large company's skis that are great (and visa versa). Try not to make broad, sweeping generalizations that simply aren't true, it makes you look ignorant.

Im the complete reverse...Im with TCK and basically echo what he said. I had them out on deep, not so deep, and NO NEW snow days and they rocked through everything. Easy to move around, held an edge on the hardpack and felt stable enough for something with a big floppy tip and floppy tails.

Ummm TOTALLY different animal between the 184 and 192. I too have skied both and while the 184 was fun it was much less stable IMHO.

Hmm..now I've read the thread and I'm feeling pretty sure about placing an order on the Rocker2:s soon. It will be a great compliment during the great days for my RP112:s.

So... What's the overall opinion when it comes to mounting?

Just like heinz_p, I bought a pair of R2 as a big day complement to my W112 (the swedish economy is booming!) so I'm basically going to use it as a big mountain weapon.

I'm 174cm and weigh in at around 75kg and got the 192. Should i place them on the regular line further back or is that too far back? I am def. not going to center mount them... I wan't a stable ski that will kill big cliffs!

Those who have skied them, how were they mounted and what were your opinions?

Concerning the different length/diff. construction thoughts... I've thoroughly flexed the 184 and 192 and they flex the same. No hard facts, but I can't really imagine them being different builds.
