Avy 1 courses in the NE

I know its WAY early for this, but anyone have any good info on places in the northeast to take an Avy 1 course? I searched and found a place up in NH by Mount Washington, just curious if any one has any info, recommendations, or knows of any other places. Trying to put some ideas together for this winter, as I will hopefully be spending some time in ADK's and would like to start educating myself.

EMS is another one to check. If I recall, they have a course on the Slides of Whiteface (Lake Placid) and some in North Conway on Mt. Washington.

Don't know much about the program myself, but check it out.

Thanks Sam! I was looking back thru some old TR's Friday on FIS and saw your review from his class. I think I may do one of his early Avy Awareness classes then do the Avy 1 later in the year. Glad to see your getting to enjoy the June skiing out west and good luck on the job search!

Thanks! i'm loving it out here. Marc is very approachable, so if you had thoughts about what your strategy should be regarding classes, just get in touch with him. If you'd like, I'm happy to discuss that stuff with you as well, just send me a PM or email (FIS contact page)

    good luck!!

Cool and very timely, I just bought a S1 and want to get some formal training. I live in NJ and make many trips out west each winter. I will make the time and get trained.

I took avy 1 through EMS in North Conway two winters ago.
Very enjoyable class both in the classroom and on the Big W. Good instructors as well.

    Thumbs up for EMS

I like chicks who ride. Especially if they're cyclists.
