I have no problem with SUP's on lakes, rivers or even ocean, provided it's not crowded, they know what they're doing and they don't hog waves. I don't like watching A WELL-KNOWN LOCAL BIG WAVE SURF PIONEER pull up to a break, bust out the boat and start taking every wave he feels like.
