...and a little bit for me - it's ok if they don't get it here - the place just has its own aura - gonna miss that.

    Beast?
More like lump in deliverance land that is only half open half the season.
Les Otten keeps making offers for SR, but ASC won't take them without him taking SL with it.

    ?
Isn't Les Otten & ASC one in the same? Don't they already owned both Sunday River and the Loaf?

Otten was axed quite a while ago from his frivilous spending.
Now he's just a rich dude who runs around, owns a bunch of bars and part of the Red Sox (he's a VC) for the most part.

But he's been making offers consistently to buy back some of his kingdom.

I haven't been back to the Loaf in five or six years. Sounds like ASC is hurting the Loaf. When I was going to school back there ten years ago, they always did a pretty good job of opening up terrain as soon as they could. Guess things have changed. Gotta admit though, as far as the EC goes, the terrain at the Loaf rules it.

Sugarloaf is looking good, I just got back from some dawn patrol laps up there. Skinned up and made turns on sluice. Its ass cold, but I caught a gorgeous sunrise.

They picked up about 8 inches of snow on saturday, I was over at saddleback and hiked up(left skins in the car, doh) up. Postholing up to my knees in spots. Blowing hard at the summit, visibility less than a few feet. No snow up top, looks doubtful that the summit would hold any snow during the year. Hiked back down to the midstation and made turns to the bottom, about 4 inches of fresh on a harder layer. Some deeper drifts here and there too. Not a bad start to the season at all.

Thinking of heading over to Wildcat/Mt Washington and checking stuff out on Saturday, check out the snowpack in the ravine and ski one or the other. The early season avy bulletin said 17.5 inches of snow over the weekend and 145mph winds, so the snow had to land somewhere...

I'll be honest, I was a little dissapointed this thread didnt contain scandalous pictures of skiguide.

dosen't look so hot as of 11/06

    and from http://www.tuckerman.org/avalanche/index.html

Winter has come in with a bang on Mt. Washington. We are just winding down from the first winter storm of the season that deposited 44.5 cm (17.5") of new snow on the Summit and 43 cm (17") of new snow at Hermit Lake on November 4th and 5th. During the day and into the night of the 5th, winds shifted to the west and increased significantly with a peak gust on the Summit of 232kph (145 mph). These very strong and sustained winds blasted snow into the Ravines. It is impressive how one storm can turn things around so quickly. Sizable pockets of snow have formed in strong lee areas of west winds. Keep you avalanche eyes open as these pockets can be very dangerous. This is particularly true in the steep gullies and slopes of Tuckerman and Huntington Ravines for early season ice climbers. As a climber picks their way up a route they will usually cross pockets of snow. Approach these areas with skepticism and be conservative while on them, near them or in their runout zones. It doesn't take much snow to knock you off your feet and depending on how high you are this could be a significant problem.

this is from last season, just enough snow to make it worthwhile...(for me) http://www.biglines.com/photos/blpic14611.jpg

And the rundown from Chauvin: The snow we got on Friday combined with the wind really deposited a lot of snow in the ravines on Mt. Washington. In fact the skiing on the upper part of the Sherburne Ski Trail was pretty good during the weekend. Central Gully looks pretty full of snow for this time of year. Left of Left in Tucks looks like it may be worth trying soon though the rest of the ravine still has a ways to go. In Huntington, Pinnacle Gully was climbed on both days this weekend but it is still more rock and flowing water than ice. It was down around zero on the summit of Mt. Washington this morning and it is supposed to remain cold all week. It looks like a good week for ice formation and there may be some early season possibilities in the ravines this coming weekend.

I wouldnt mind heading up, taking a look in the morning and check out the snow, and then going to wildcat in the afternoon.

Good to hear that Saddleback and the Loaf are looking good for this time of year. Burn some turns down Muleskinnah and Rookie Rivah for me!

Fack! If only I'd stayed later that night.

Or maybe if I actually helped you move in instead of going skiing.
