    WFR/WEMT certification

I'm not entirely sure if this is the correct thread to be posting this on, but I'll give it a shot anyways.

I have seen a couple other threads discussing WFR/WEMT/OEC certifications - [ame="http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=133626"]1[/ame], 2, 3 - however my situation is a little different from others in that I currently hold a Massachusetts EMT-Basic certification. I am hoping to do some sort of trip leading or search and rescue after I graduate college in a year, so I am probably going to go with the WEMT upgrade, but does anyone think it would actually be more worthwhile to go for WFR in addition to just the EMT-B?

    Thanks for the help.

WEMT upgrade is for you. WFR will be 1/2 review. Ultimately you will probably learn the same things in both, but spend more time doing it in WFR. Completion of either should make you a WEMT.

The way I hear tell, most guiding ops want your training that is current, so if you aren't NREMT that shouldn't be a problem because few actually require an EMT cert.

SAR often wants EMT that is current in the state you are trying to volly in. (You know SAR is almost exclusively volly I hope)

Good on searching. Post probably should go in Padded Room.

    Yep, you want WEMT.

Also, [ame="http://www.emtlife.com/showthread.php?t=17961"]here is a thread on WEMT[/ame] over on the EMT Life forum that's pretty helpful breaking down all the differences between the certs. I saw it over there and thought of this thread.

    Cheers!
