Just a few shots from about 2 weeks ago in the Spanish Peaks north of Big Sky, sw of Bozeman. Used the Dudley Cr. TH for access; long slog in, but gets you to some really fun terrain that doesn't seem to see any traffic.
The snow was good; had to hike the first 1/2mi or so before putting on skins, but was consistent after that. If we had left 2-3hrs earlier we would have found awesome corn all over, instead we found lots of mush. Oh well.
There are a few stream crossings if you follow the summer trail.
Finally gaining some elevation.
Booting up the last little bit.
Topping out on the ridge. Lots of fun things around there...
Here we go!
Scott making the skiing look far better, quality-wise, than it actually was. Mt. Wilson hanging in the background.
Then it was time for an adventure. Sweet couloir that has easy access. Yours truly.
3" of wet, heavy snow that moved from the top kept things interesting. Very fun place to be.
And the rest of the way down...
As instructors, we're very concerned about form at all times..
One more shot from the ridge looking west-ish towards Beehive.
Check ya later!
