the skiing has been good here in the Elks! just enough new snow has been keeping things fresh and that red shit burried where it should be. ski'd four fun mountains last week, and got some head cam from all of them.
Memorial Day! Bells, North Maroon, climbing the face direct after first cliff band. Rappell over punk rock cliff band on descent. South Maroon two day later, in the fog. no worthy footage, or photo's. skiing was aweful to.

Yesterday was a long one, starting at 330 wake up call and hiking by 5 towards Sopris with two lines in mind. we ended up left on the approach and just went with it, and to tell you the truth i kinda like'd that skin up the summer route. and we got to touch all three peaks yesterday skiing off of two of them, wich was sick. we ski'd one of the laundry chutes, wich was great, and then the elbow couloir, at least thats what i call it, and it was manky by 1 pm. but it was still cool.
routes
skinin from little to middle, course it was windy!
comin up into the bowl between the two peaks
laundry chutes, we ski'd the easy one again, second to lookers left. has a nice ramp entrance, check the vid.

about a week ago we ski'd Malamute peak wich is on the dividing ridge between castle peak/montizuma basin, and cathedral peak/drainage. it was an interesting ski, as the mountain wasnt our original objective, and by the time we dicided on it, we couldnt see the face we wanted to ski, we just knew it was there. unfortunatly i've got no pics from this day, only the head cam, wich will show me make some nice pow turns, get cliffed out, climb back up and exit via a key ramp, then make some nice pow/corn turns! here it is, and a map.

next day I ski'd the NW chutes of Hayden, wich were sick! unfortunatly, i agian had no pic camera, and this time, my head cam went dead and i literally only got a 2 seconds of footage, wich i'll throw on just cuz thats all I got, and it might give you a tiny idea of the conditions, wich were good. real good. o and i've also got a pic of the face from earlier in the year, just for ref. and btw, it was a long walk out. about 5 mi to the trail head and then another one or two to the real road where i hitched from.
2 second vid. haha! retarted! sorry for even posting it.

More to come! if we can start gettting some good freezes the bigger scaryer lines are going to be beckoning! plus the pass is opening up, and appearantly, maybe even the ski area! upload gondy, shred some red, download and hang out with hot chicks. thats the plan for the weekend. I gotta admitt, I'll live in Utah every winter, but this place is pretty fuckin sick.
Ski'd a sweet northwest facing face up real close to Castle peak today. the shot goes off the same ridge that most ppl use to get to the summit of the peak. this pitch was way better than anything castle had to offer. it was the best lookin thing around.
may 27, still skiin good stuff out here! lovin it! pass just opened a half hour ago too.
