    Online Shops for Frames

Looking for suggestions from those that have been down this path before....I've been through pictureframes.com and framesbymail.com, what else do people use?

I sold some 20x30 and 16x24 prints, so I need big frames. For example, picture frames.com wants $266 for a 2" satin black frame, acid-free foam core backing, black core bright white mat w/5" borders, and UV non glare plexiglass.

For the same item, framesbymail wants $160. Quite a variety.

Anyone used either of the two above shops, or have any other suggestions?

If you are in business and are selling your images, why not just invest to do it yourself.

I'm just about ready to open a co-op type gallery and decided to mat and frame everything myself. It's not rocket science.

Someday...for now I just need to do low volume so I'm looking for pre-fab.

Sorry to threadjack but figured this would be the best place. I want some digital images I created to be mounted on foamcore and need an inventive way to hang them. The pieces are made to go together with a slight gap but would rather have wall surface between than a frame. Any suggestions????

Here is an example of one. You can see the lines where the image is to be 'cut' in thirds vertically all measuring 11x17

    Just checked pictureframes.com outlet

20X30 $28 for 1 3/8" black satin, and maybe buy the glass and mat locally.

Yeah I should have been a bit more specific. The print is 20x30, with a 5" border all around, so the frame is 30x40". I think I'm going to order the frame and get the mat and acrylic at Aaron brothers in Reno.

Advres, hmm that's a tough one. What about one frame and a mat with 3 windows? Alternatively, what about something different, like getting them dry mounted on foam core and then gluing them to steel flat bars, with holes at the top and bottom sticking up 1" above the highest/lowest pieces that you could screw right into the wall?

If the photo isn't going to spend its life behind plexiglass, gator board is about a million times better than foam core.

Advres, have you looked into face mounting? It's spendy, but you end up with a super glossy finish and an image that floats on the wall. Another thing you could consider is having it printed directly onto aluminum, I just got back some images for a show this summer I did that way and they look really nice--although I wouldn't recommend it for most, it's worth checking out for sure.

Bumping this up to see if people have other suggestions. Looking for online retailers that carry 20x30 frames. Thanks.

This site has a huge variety of frames. They will sell you frame only or frame, mat, and glass.

This site has less variety but is very cheap. They do offer custom sizes, but I don't know if they go as big as you want.
