I'm trying to copy some data off my hard drive to a cd. It says "insert disk". I insert disk and nothing happens. It can't see the cd. But the cd drive works fine for games or audio. wtf?
thanks

what OS and CD burning software you running?
If it is XP and Roxio EZ CD there can sometime ba a conflict. I had the same thing happen. I had to uninstall Roxio and just use the built in XP CD burning software.

you do have a cd burner right??![]()
Sounds like you're burner may have shit the bed. I just replaced my internal drive because the [insert computer geek language here] thingy got fried. I couldn't burn CDs, but the drive could still read data or audio. How long have you had the burner?
See, there you go blaming the computer again.
Use a CD-R instead of Whitesnake's Greatest Hits.

Yeah, it is XP and Roxio, I'll try that.Originally Posted by Vinman

Roxio + Xp =![]()
Use the built-in burning capability of XP. Navigate to your data (if it's not all in the same place, copy it to it's own folder), highlight it all, right click, and select "Copy to CD." This should start the burn CD wizard. Give it a name, (default should be the date), and then away you should go.
If your computer is running a DOS-based or Windows system, and was built in the last twenty years, it will realize that the CD you are putting in the drive is a copy of "Cheap Trick: Live at Budokan" and ignore it out of good taste. Put in something newer, like a Norah Jones album, pour yourself a nice glass of Chardonnay (with a little soda water, of course), sit back, and relax. 'Cause it's Friday...and this is smoooth jazz.
