Clinton looked weak. Looks like that heart incident nearly killed him. Probably killed him to sit in bed and watch the final months on the tube, just like us. But even so, the only time I saw him I was suddenly reminded that the Dems have somebody with a personality. I'm not too sure he would have been an asset, though. If this election was a referendum on morals, as the spin doctors are proclaiming, than he would have fired up these sexless bible readers even more. And it isn't as though he's a southerner any more. He doesn't even work south of Central Park, and lives in Chappaqua.
Sure do miss the guy, now that the vast right wing conspiracy is in power.

Only 10% of 18-24 year olds voted, and 19% of 18-29 year olds voted (so I recall from listening to NPR).

That's fucking pathetic. We deserve a facist dictator who may or may not have stolen the election, since the youth of America doesn't care. I think it's really sad that the people who are most affected by this presidancy don't care if they're shipped off to Iraq, don't have social security, health care, or even understand what is happening to them and their lives. Yeah, I understand the turd sandwich vs. giant douche argument, but pick one because you're gonna be stuck with it no matter what.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

I've read Palast's books. I think the guy is a total blowhard. Everything is about feeding his ego more than eliciting truth. And, as many of you know, I'm a pretty solid liberal.

As for those repubs out there who think the dems need to adjust their way of thinking and elections, you're crazy. Urban populations are growing. The "confederate" states that handed you the election this year will eventually not be enough as urban centers swell and rural electorates shrink. Especially as baby-boomers begin to die off, there will be change in the wind. I love my country, but I hate the lack of compassion and common sense we have when it comes to providing education, medical care, and basic shelter for all citizens. People, especially Americans, can be so damn greedy.

I guess I'm glad that people -- including people on this board -- feel they have a vested interest to vote and make a difference in their political landscape. Hopefully the newly registered and finally active will help cultivate an electorate wanting more than two parties that ARE VERY MUCH THE SAME despite their alleged differences.

    Cakey Fruitcake

    Ingredients
2 cups candied red and green cherries, chopped
    2 cups walnuts, chopped
    1 cup chopped dates
    1/2 cup chopped citron
1-1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
    1/2 cup light molasses
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
    2 cups boiling water
    4 cups all-purpose flour
    2 teaspoons baking soda
    Bourbon Glaze (recipe follows)
Assorted berries and grapes for garnish

    Instructions
Heat oven to 325 degrees F. Generously coat two 6-cup fluted tube pans or two 9 X 5 X 3-inch loaf pans with nonstick cooking spray.

Combine cherries, walnuts, dates, citron, brown sugar, butter, molasses, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves in a large bowl. Pour 2 cups boiling water over mixture; stir until butter is melted. Stir in flour and baking soda until well mixed. Scrape into prepared pans, dividing equally.

Bake in heated 325-degree F. oven 1 hour for tube pans, 65 to 70 minutes for loaf pans. Cool cakes in pans on wire racks 15 minutes. Unmold cakes onto racks. Cool completely.

When cakes are cooled, drizzle with Bourbon Glaze. Let stand until glaze hardens. Decorate with berries and grapes
