SUNDAY REMAINS IN EFFECT...

A STRONG WINTER STORM WILL SPREAD INTO THE SOUTHWEST MOUNTAINS
TONIGHT AND SATURDAY. THE STORM WILL PRODUCE SNOW...HEAVY AT
TIMES...LATE TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING. THE SNOWFALL WILL
TAPER OFF BY SUNDAY MORNING. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF 10 TO 20 INCHES ARE
EXPECTED AT ELEVATIONS ABOVE 9000 FEET BY SUNDAY MORNING...WITH OVER
2 FEET OF SNOW EXPECTED ACROSS FAVORED WEST AND SOUTHWEST FACING
SLOPES ABOVE 10000 FEET. IN ADDITION TO THE HEAVY SNOW...SOUTHWEST
WINDS AT 20 TO 35 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH WILL PRODUCE AREAS OF
BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW...ESPECIALLY THROUGH THE MOUNTAIN PASSES
INCLUDING WOLF CREEK AND CUMBRES PASSES. VISIBILITIES MAY DROP TO
NEAR ZERO AT TIMES IN HEAVY...BLOWING SNOW.

now you've done it. if it doesn't snow we'll know who to blame. That said I was up there (Alta) today and there was about 10-12 inches already on the ground.

the weatherman said that he wouldn't be surprised if we had that by this time next week.

Two feet in the Wasatch around Alta/Bird would not be surprising at all....liquid precip should be in the 1.5-2 inch range so a little 10 or 12 to 1 ratio would yield some impressive snowfall totals on top of the 8 that's already on the ground at mid Gad at the Bird. Plus another storm system is coming later in the weekend and early next week that could lay down another 6-12.

Tahoe should have around 2 feet higher elevations by the time its all over...

Colorado, west of a Steamboat-Vail-Aspen line look favorable for a 10-20 incher with isolated 20-25 inch totals.

Big changes are in store for the SW, Central, and Northern mountains with snow on the way overnight into Saturday. 1-2 feet will be possible for the San Juans above 9000 feet by tomorrow night, with 5-10" for most other mountain locations above 9000 feet. If your plans take you to the high country tomorrow, you will need to exercise your winter driving skills.

Would be there in a heartbeat, but have to take some students out on a trip on Sunday . I'm thinking if they get the max of 10" tonight and some more tomorrow we hit up something off Love pass in the afternoon?? There's some pockets up there that collect all the windloaded fluff, could be interesting.
