    The Terraces, Mammoth

My last thread seemed to disappear... fortunately I had it open in a browser! So if anyone ever wants to see it, PM me and I'll send you the PDF (It's big, though, 11MB)

    To continue the thread...

My Webshots album has a lot of pictures of the areas you are asking about. Mammoth 03/04 Season

I'd be happy to show you around.

Skier666's film the Swarm has Jamie Pierre and some other dude launching The Terraces top to bottom. It is too sketchy of a landing for me. A little off right, left, long, or short and you are hurting. Of course a soft, deep pow day could change that - but those guys didn't have soft snow. Crazy mofos. There's also some good footage in the film of other areas of TOTW.
Cool shots, and look good for research purposes too Would be great to have a tour guide to the good stuff, so thanks for the offer Can't seem to find The Swarm on the web - and am don't think it's exactly going to be found in London, but will keep my eyes peeled.

The main thing that worries me about the terraces is the drop onto the main terrace - if you're doing it either step-drop or airplane turn one there be quite a bit of reverberation when you hit the snow - if you're not going to be able to dissipate the energy by turning it into a little bit o' speed - and that a bad place to have a shaky landing - I suppose that's where the conditions would play a really big roll... Then again, you wouldn't exactly have much time to regain you balance if you tried to knock them off in one movement (Airplane turn in to the fall line, onto the terrace, into the ai,)

Whatever happens, can't wait to ski Mammoth, and very much looking forward to the top of the world!

The Terraces and TOTW in general are really burly! There are a lot of really rad lines in there. Bullet is definitely a good person to take you in there as you don't want to be in the wrong place up there. With the amount of snow coming down so far, some great lines in there may be doable this year....
