    "people of 'ze world..relax!"

as a staunch opponent of GW and his administration on almost every front/issue (the enviornment, the erosion of our civil liberties, the right-wing pandering, the bogus war in irag, the dumbing down of america, the overly-religous tones, etc etc etc), i think we need to keep this in perspective.

democracy is a good thing, america is a great country, and its ok to agree to disagree. the nation is divided, but the majority voted for GW and the rest of us have to learn to accept/live with the result. unlike last time (when GW did steal FLA and didn't recieve a majority of the popular vote), he did recieve almost 3 mil more votes than JK. democracy has spoken.

for those that opposed GW (like me), its time to excercise your rights as a citizen (while we still can ) to disagree with those in power. now more than ever. join the sierra club TODAY. join the ACLU. stay on top of the issues that are important to you, and act locally where you can.

but above all else, i really hope that we can all learn to have a civil discourse. to agree to disagree in a civil fashion. that is what i will try to do while still acting locally to the best of my ability. hopefully, GW (unlike last time) will reach out across the isle and try and unite us. that is my hope.

if, however, this administration tilts even further to the right, and becomes even more belicose to those that disagree with them...well, then, fack my toughts above about trying to reach out, etc......

What have we learned today kids?

It's okay to whine now and then, you gotta let your emotions flow, but it doesn't get you anywhere. Everyone complains about how FAHCKING STUPID most Americans are, but I see a LOT more people complaining than taking action. Get out, talk to dumb America, educate, listen, enlighten. Do something other than making jokes about our president and the rednecks that voted for him and laying on the doom and gloom. It's like my roommate, who's 5 months out of a relationship and still depressed because surprise, surprise, all he does is talk about how shitty his situation is.

I have a friend, who I thought was a "holier than thou" liberal. Turns out she made me look stupid. She works for a civil activism group and TALKS and LISTENS to people. She doesn't simply spew liberal fire... and she actually is turned off by the "holier than thou" liberals and gets a lot more out of talking with those that might not completely agree with her.

I'm not ashamed to be an American,I'm ashamed that the majority of people in this country are callow ,frightened, reactive ,imbecilic wimps ,& that I will unfortunately be lumped in with these dumb -asses.

The Bin-Laden- Bush ticket should prove unstoppable in it's destruction of the principles this country was built upon. May the reign of Orwellian darkness devour the minions of the psuedo -sanctimonious.

an abhorrence or dislike of homosexuality is not necessarily a religious issue. Some people, actually a lot of people, like myself think marriage is something to be defined as a one man, one woman issue.

However, I feel that the ban on same-sex civil unions in certain states is FUCKED. I personally support that benefit as it gives same-sex couples the same rights as marriage, basically it's marriage in all but name...giving them rights while preserving the order of things in the past.

Unless monogamy and heterosexuality have gone the way of divine right, I don't think that's so evil so as to give them the same rights, just in a name that preserves the natural order of things.

    I'm not bigoted, just opinionated...boom.

Guess there may be a few openings then from the benches in Utah

I agree with what everyone said, but time to move on. Stay vigilent and make sure you are signed up at http://www.nrdc.org to stay up on any environmental assaults the administration will try and launch. Keep the information flowing, but the ranting to a minimum. But seriously, after today- I hope the board returns to more stoke, I'm burn't out on this politics crap and it just creates ill will. And one last rant- Let's hope Bushy wakes up and 'really tries' to become that uniter now- and not take us to Ultra Right Wing

But what's the context and/or basis for that definition if not religion?
Can't people just mind their own fucking business and let others do the same?
Can I get a civil union with my girl and skip all the god stuff?

So stupid for mythlogy to drive public policy.

Now shut up and start your drive to the city for the movie, dude. And check your voicemail.

I'm not ashamed, I'm scared. And I'm depressed. I've been moping around all day, scared for what lies ahead. It's tough to comprehend, but our country is now run by the church.

What I'm amazed by is that Kerry's home state's Supreme Court brought this issue to the forefront and made it into a wedge issue. Marriage is a legal agreement, pure and simple. try getting spousal benefits with out a state marriage license. it's impossible.

The irony of this is that Marriage is supposed to be this hallowed institution. Is there an institution that has been bastardized as extensively as marriage?

    -@ 65% failure rate.
    -Mail order brides
    -marriage for visa/green card
-anulments (I can't believe Rove didn't jump on this)
    -etc.
    -etc.

This is as evolutionary an issue as there is. by the time I'm 50 gay marriage will be recognized.

hell, there might even be a few gay male ice skaters. I've even heard women golfers might utilize lesbo straps.

Are you in touch with the "current" draft legislation and where it came from?

Proposed by Democratic representatives in 2003 to discourage American parents from wanting to enter into a war.

The service that would be required by the draft is broken down into two forms: military service or civil service.

    I laugh at you!!!!

First off, I voted for Kerry, I was bummed, but democracy spoke and I have to deal with it. If only Kucinich were on the ticket.... Anyways, I just get a great laugh from anyone who compares Bush to Hitler. Funny indeed. Hitler was a much smarter man. It took Hitler four years, that's right, four years to completely build a his military, gain mass support, and start taking action to begin his world war. Bush can't bost stats like that, he is just not smart enough, plain and simple. Granted Hitler had a horrible motivation and his efforts were directed in aweful ways, but as far as quality of leader, Hitler is, and may always be King Shit of Fuck mountain, and nobody can fuck with that....

what are you talking about? Bush has never used a nuke, and has no reason to.

I wish I had the numbers, but those 5 guys I listed are responsible for the death of hundreds of millions of people. Hitler at least 50 million for starting WWII....and you think Bush is even comparible to that? Please explain.

Please. You live in a paradise.
Yes we live in a paradise that is consuming the majority of the worlds natural resources and doesn't give a shit. A paradise that kills between 50,000 and 100,000 innocent civilians in a retaliation for a terroist act that killed 3000 innocent american civilians, a stark comparison, especially considering, the country we attacked had ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ATTACK AGAINST US! A paradise run by religious ideals that stomp on almost every constitutional right given to us by our forefathers (except, god forbid, for the right to own assault rifles). A paradise that destroys it's own environment with wreckless abandon (which of all things is absolutely irreversible). A paradise on the verge of fascism and doesn't give a shit what anyone else in the world thinks or cares about...land of the free and home of the brave, amen.) A paradise where every seven seconds, a woman is beaten by her significant other, but at the same time more people are arrested for smoking pot each day than are for violent crimes. Some paradise.

I AM ashamed of my government, my country, and every right wing fuck nut who voted Bush and his evil administration back into office. If that means that I'm unpatriotic, unamerican, unwhatever, then so be it. It's time to take a stand for what is right, time to take a stand against the political rhetoric (from both sides) that rules this country. It's time to take down news sources, like Fox News, that report the un-truth. And most importantly it's time to take a stand, to start a revolution, against the bass ackwards theological path that we are headed down. God help us, because even though the right claims to be "the party of god", they certainly aren't leading a "godly path" that they so claim to be leading. I highly doubt God would condone the lies, deceit and murder that we are comitting.

Saying that we want to move to Canada or shit like that isn't the answer (although it's very appealing). The answer is activism.

Go for it! Start a revolution! Give me a call when something changes.
Though you probably should have started this revolution before the election. You guys keep saying that "its time to do something" and "its time to take a stand" yet very few of you actually do. There are people like Plake and Dex and Tip that protested during the RNC, and people like Schuss that tried to get people to vote for Kerry. I give 'em a lot of credit, that kind of stuff takes balls, but they are the minority. Everyone else would rather sit back and complain that things aren't going their way. That's easy. Kerry could have won if more people really gave a crap. If you really cared, you would have done something. Right now, as far as I'm concerned, you're just pretending to care.
