Video TR: Red Lake Peak 11-02-04

With Kirkwood only open on the weekends, Arty, hardrider and myself were going to have hike for our weekday turns, so we decided on Red Lake Peak at Carson Pass. We didn't expect much; it hadn't snowed in a week, it had been warm and sunny since that storm and it was supposed to reach the mid 50's today. We expected variable conditions at best, windblown, crust, with pockets of heavy wet baked snow. What we found was powder and more powder and more powder.

Although at one point during the day Arty was rendered temporarily speechless, I am sure that once he recovers he will add some of his own words to this TR, but until then here are some pics and video.

I've tried to view a couple of your vids, but I get a pop-up asking for a user name and password.

you have to set up an account with the host. they now only allow three downloads per day. i'm taking the liberty of putting this on another server for LPH. i'll leave it up there for a few days. its uploading now, i'll post a link in a bit.

Ya, you need to register which is really easy and they don't spam you. Alot of us use their site as it is dedicated to home movies of different sports and they allow you to upload big movies and it is free.

Basom, ya, if you want to host it on some other, server, please do, that would be great.

    Swee-eat!

    Love the:

Smear turns, making your ass drop!

Portishead, but it doesn't go good with bluebird. I listened to Dummy for three months straight in Cold and dark NZ. It went so well with that country. Bluebird Tahoe needs upbeat Fa-shizzle

Editing, great mix of vid and stills!

    That was bananas!

Damn that snow looks fuckin' rippin', even after some warm temps...by the look of the coverage, one would never expect it was November 1st!

Lph, great job on the video, nice work with the visuals and the music...albeit you chose "might as well killyourself Portishead style"

Arty....go to the gym and start running, or do I have to pull you up around the hill again on Saturday

    Hardrider....you're looking good mang

i just always wanted to use portishead and besides storm days, all we have here is bluebird. hardrider requested gregorian chants, which i was sure i had on my harddrive somewhere, but couldn't find it.

punani popularized the smear turn amongst the kirkwood crew and me and hardrider were working on it all day. shoelaces is already pretty damn good at it.... like everything else he does.

well, damn that's flattering. thanks. one thing I can tell you is that the smear turns gets easier when you have only one acl attached....you're more flexible to get down low

sick vid!!! and needless to say I'm super jealous. I gotta get back up there for one more day....need to ski with hardrider at least once this season.

Special thanks to basom for putting it on a real server!

Good video, stills, and turns…minus the smears…quit trying to emulate snowboarders

Anyone up for bc this Saturday?

Ive got some cameras (vid and still) too! We could do a nice little joint production.
