it looks to me like they are getting futher delayed. late nov or mid dec? that is if the load tests go well.

Yeah, I talked to some Atla haunchos this morning. They are still not planning to open early, considering that "the lift is not ready yet and needs all the prep time they can get. That side is still a major construction zone and so opening half of the mountain isn't worth the trouble of keeping people skiing in bounds".

I guess you gotta love the foresight on their part - why try to finish construction on the lift in august or september when you can let it drag into october and november and run the risk of having massive snowstorms impede progress?

It hasn't occured to you that the start of construction is weather-dependent as well? Snow & mud is bad for heavy equipment. I don't know if they got a late start or not, but there was plenty of both to go around in late May/early June, I'm sure. Originally Posted by stump832

Besides, last I checked, it doesn't usually start dumping in Utah in October. Think of how far along they'd be right now if mama nature hadn't unloaded on LCC.Balls Deep in the 'Ho

13 - didn't mean to piss you off bud. From hiking around there in august, september, and october, it looked like they had sort of backloaded the construction schedule for late fall. nothing happening, nothing happening, nothing hapening....and then bam, late september came and stuff finally started to look like it was getting done. Can't a man express a little frustration?

No worries dude, I'm not pissed.
I'd love it if the lift opened in time, but the delay could very well be a blessing in disguise for Alta skiers this season.

long sugarloaf laps mean less tracks on west russ, nest and hi-boy.
i agree with stump on the delayed construction. from being up there in the summer it looked like they were just thinking about putting in a new lift. they got on the deconstruction pretty quick, but had a lot of problems with getting correct parts to where and when they needed to be.
