For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was
I should get to post twice, since both my rents are voting today (one already has). Whatever, nice poll, we'll see how things turn out.

John Kerry!!!!!
What are the chances the maggots are indicative of the entire nation?
I WISH the maggots were indicative of the country, but even so, here's some news for us:
florida's black voters are up 35% from '00, according to CNN yesterday. that's part of the surprise voter turn out all the analysts are saying they can't account for/predict. hot damn!
according to CNN's analysts sunday night, traditionally, when the race is this close (this one's closest ever by CNN/gallup poll), the new voter turnout is historically anti incumbent. come ooooooon, new voters! put it out of the park!
nice, laser. did you plan that, below? say "yes" and you're a savvy pollster!![]()

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. (It) is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. . .There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so. . .people won't feel insecure around you. . . -Williamson
Guessing this isn't indicative of the population so I voted GeeDubya to even it up (Though of course I can't vote).
Vote now!

This shit's making me physically sick. There's only so much hiding out from reality you can do up on the mountain.

I read a story in the paper a couple days ago about black voters. Apprarently OVER 90% voted for Gore in 2000. That's pretty amazing.Originally Posted by Telekóptero

Living just outside DC, I would venture to say that you could have asked every one lined up to vote this morning what % of the black vote went to Gore and you would have gotten pretty damn close to that 90% number.
Of course, ask those same people about snowmobiles in Yellowstone, and most would have no idea what you're talking about.
Fuck that. Just like people have the right to choose between candidates they also have the choice to be apathetic to the giant fucking mess that is american politics. I voted Kerry, but I have to say this whole campaign (and the coors vs salazar campaign in Denver) has driven me nuts. No more. Politicians have all cut each other off at the knees. "I've never once made a mistake, but the guy running against me is a borderline criminal." "Vote for that demotcrat and terrorists will bring bombs to your door." Vote for that republican and Millionaires will take the rest of what you have and the environment will become an acid swamp." I'm done. So tired of the whole thing. "Let's scare people into voting for us." All of them said: "let's have a clean race" then they all threw mud. Then campaign finance reform brought us all those lovely other mud slinging factions. When everybody is calling everybody else a criminal do you want to trust any of them? You better believe I'm apathetic. Throw the entire bunch to the wolves. They're making America more polar than ever. Everything is life or death, right or worng. With us or you're a terrorist. To be honest I wish I didn't pay such close attention this year. I wish I were more apathetic sooner. I don't feel confident in any particular candidate (lesser of two evils as always). All getting invloved has done is piss me off.Originally Posted by bossass

It's entirely based on pulling for your candidate rather than caring about each person's voice. [/tired of the bullshit]
Vote or don't, it's your choice but fuck off if you think you've got some sort of moral superiority on the giant clusterfuck. They've created something worth hiding from.

Hmm, a lot more Bush supporting maggots than I thought.
Regardless of the outcome, the hour-long Daily Show tonight should be good.

those are good reasons, and i would agree with you, but i was just pointing out you can make your voice heard, be part of the process and not vote for a guy you hate.Originally Posted by meatdrink9
you have had some serious rants on here, and it seems you battle with a lot of this stuff. i get pissed off too. but apathy is not the way for this country. apathy led us to elect george bush four years ago. the less bright, concious people like you involve yourself with the process the more fucked up its going to get.
maybe you don't really care too much, but it seems to me that you do.

Wish that poll was indicative of the real world... I think we have more like minded (obviously) people around here. If Bush wins im going to puke...

Yep I care. It pisses me off. It keeps me up at night. And it's one of those things in life you're powerless to change. So why drag yourself through the mess when you can't do anything about it?Originally Posted by basom
There's some religious prayer or quote out there that says something to the effect of "Lord give me the power to change the things I can and the ability to recognize the things I can't." Seems like a smart request even if it's misdirected. I think the whole system needs a shake-up not just one candidate to another. It's not something I can change. I'm not satisfied with any of the choices. Nobody is looking to move mankind ahead. They spend all their time battling back and forth for power. Spending more time looking for ways to discredit their opponent rather than looking for ways to help humanity. It wears me out. I'm happier when I don't pay attention.

This reminds me of how it always amazes me how much up in arms people get over politics when nothing the politicians do ever seems to make changes. Poor people are still poor, rich people are still rich. True, the country is changing, but I see that more as a result of cultural changes then political.
We didn't loose the right to have abortions with Bush in office, nor did we loose it during the 12 years with Reagan/Bush Sr. in office. True, 4 Supreme Court spots may open up in the next 4 years, but I'd bet my left nut that Roe v. Wade will not get overturned anytime soon.
We did loose the right to have semi-automatic weapons (which even as a Liberatarian, I consider a very good thing) during the Clinton years, but I could've still gone out and bought a high-powered killing machine during his time in office. People blamed Clinton for various companies either outsourced to foreign countries or opening up shop out of the USA, but that trend started before he was in office and sure as hell carried through GW's term.
My income tax didn't noticably go down while GW was in office, nor did it noticably go up while Clintion was banging around the White House. During Bush Jr.'s term, some states actually allowed gay marriages. I assure you that if Kerry wins, the remaining conservatives in office will impede efforts to let them get hitched.
The only change that has affected me personally as an indirect result of Bush Jr. in office is that I don't get to hear as much dirty language on talk radio. Whoopie. And that's still a more direct result of Janet Jackson showing her nipple on TV then anything any politician has done (other then Micheal Powell). I still don't understand why people care or why that spurred such Gestapo-like FCC judgements.
Politics no longer matter that much in America. The two options are too similar to prompt any real changes, and they fight with each other far too much that real changes that truely affect large numbers of people never occur. I don't give a rat's ass about either one of them yahoos. F'em both. </rant>

We're very much on the same page, MD. I love this country, see it heading in directions I don't like, but feel powerless and don't see any of the leaders doing much to help things.Originally Posted by meatdrink9
