Thumbs up Skied Fernie-Oct 31-Sort of!!!!

Well, I finally made some turns in Fernie in October. It was sort of a last minute idea, but I had to feed the habit. Anyways, I walked to the bears den (mid mountain) where I was able to skin up to the top of the Bear. I followed the cat tracks in lizard bowl which was good since the lifty guys are running there selds on the cat track. There is about a foot of snow on the upper mountain. Sure, it isn't Utah, but its better than the last two years for the start of the season. Good thing is the snow on the upper half in staying put, and when it rains in town its snowing up top. Just made a couple of turns on the way down, but I followed the cat track down, since I didn't know what was lurking below the snow. I say if we get a good dump of a foot or so, the Bear should be good. It will take a few more feet to cover the adlers in the bowls

None the less, I actually made turns in October

Here are some pics from the top of the Bear.

    rossibandit,
Way to go after it and get some.
I have only skied Fernie for one day during a low snow year. Skiing down from the ridges through a natural tree branch slalom course was interesting. I'd love to return there when there is abundant snow.

It's nice to see that much snow up there in October.

Hope November brings some big storms.
