Took a hard, twisting fall on Saturday morning. My left ski sunk into some weird crusty snow and stopped flat, sending me over the handlebars. I broke my pole because I collapsed on myself, and it felt like if my binding hadn't release exactly when it did, I could have broken my lower leg inside the boot. I released from the toe.
The pain is on my calf, right where the top of the boot top ends, which makes sense. There is also equal pain in the muscle running down the front of my shin, but not on the bone itself.
Zero swelling, zero discoloration. But it's been 48 hours and the pain doesn't seem to be subsiding. I can walk, but with a limp.
Should I wait it out another few days or go see the doc soon?
I would go see your primary care who can refer you to a specialist if needed.
As you have already done, stay away from the ER... But a quick visit to the doc could answer your questions. Because if there is an injury you will know how to recover quicker instead of risking further damage.
If you don't have insurance, have a few beers, stay off your feet and see what happens, because 100s or 1000s of dollars can haunt you for years.
