By best do you mean swanky like a "W" hotel? Or by best do you mean the Adventure Inn in Reno where you can choose between the "cave" room or the "jungle" room?

The Hacienda in South Lake near Stateline. We stayed there for 3 nights for the Kirkwood comp - splat loves the place too. Nice soft floors, hot tub, etc. It was somewhere around $35 a night.

If you want to be close to da mountains but affordable, I hear the Travelodge is pretty decent. Hot tub on the roof from which you can see the lake, right in the middle of Tahoe City. Sounds good to me.
It's heartbreaking to see a chick who's too anorexic.

The Fantasy Inn in South Lake Tahoe...
They've got free "adult" movies running in your room 24/7!! There's also an adult boutique and a wedding chapel on the premises!
Perfect place for getting rid of a few of these guys:
I met a woman who ran the night shift at the front desk for a number of yearst there. She had some very interesting stories!
