and an S5 is hardly any bigger than the "too small" S4 to begin with.

Maybe Mrs. Suit jumped too soon?
2013 Audi RS4 Avant
Audi has imported one of them and they're letting some writers drive it...speculation is that it's coming here.
But hey...RS. The thing's pretty badass. Apparently the one at Audi headquarters here has a sticker in the back window that says "You just got beat by a wagon".
Well, Audi has announced their intent to bring the RS7 to the US market in 2014 and there is a strong possibility of a limited (approx 500) run of the holy grail - the C7 RS6 Avant - if there is enough interest. Heard rumors about the RS4 avant and knew that AoA had brought one stateside, but nothing solid (but I'm far from an end all/be all authority) about actually producing it for sale in the USA.
Folks with serious interest in a RS6 avant (and the ability to actually follow thru) should contact:

Oh please, God. If you're up there & listening, please bring the RS6 avant to the US....
Hmm...
I'm so sick of driving a big stupid SUV, but I still need to transport long, skinny things (toy airplanes). I've lately been fantasizing about getting an S7 or a Panamera for me, and making the kids drive the giant SUV.
An RS6 avant might fit the bill, too.
Hmm...
O fuck me, my prayers may have been answered. My 06 V70R is getting a little long in the tooth.
Shit, well that stiffy went quickly limp:
"The price is a cool €76,600 in Germany, which includes a 19 percent tax. That's just about as much as the RS5 coupe. Its competition includes the Cadillac CTS-V wagon and the Euro-only Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG wagon. Will we get the RS4 Avant in the U.S.? Probably not".
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.
Well I wouldn't hold my breath but there are indications it may come over but only as a super-low-volume (~500 vehicles) model.
Yea those V10 TDI Touareg's are powerful and fast as shit.
It used to have world record passenger towing capability (still might)

Do it... Do it.... You've gotta be tired of feeling like a sea captain piloting a cargo ship on twisty roads. I'm hearing they are bumping up the V10 powerplant to pump out 600hp for next year. Just a beautiful car that will blow the doors off just about anything, and drives & corners like a dream. And it'll haul all of your shit too.
Unfortunately the Touareg is a POS.
Came in dead last for Luxury SUVs, in the most recent Consumer Report. The Cayenne and Audi Q are the same car.
Probably out of the budget, but by far the baddest SUV on the market.
Why do you need a fast SUV though? Buy a RX350 and be done with it. Buy a proper sports car for spirited driving.
sweet jesus stupid a 30+ year old military design warmed over?
C&D just (Oct. '12) did a comparo with the G550 and the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon and gave the win to the Jeep. And you could buy two of the jeeps and gas for both of them for life for the price of one Merc.
Best quote about the G550: "Drives like a tall building". Their conclusion: "The world's most awesome poor-driving vehicle".
Thats a G63. Regardless of driving dynamics, it is still one of the fastest most capable SUVs on the market. Benz cars are crap though, and these supercar SUVs are just dumb.
They all handle like crap, they are SUVs.
E63 wagon is probably the best choice for the OP.
You are the coolest guy on the Internet Hugh. So hardcore.
Almost 14k posts.....
That's fucking sweet dude!
I have to go for volume to compete with "quality" like you stupid
Your life is so dull, you find time to troll me on TGR. What's even worse, is that it has become a kind of goal for you....
Truly pathetic Hugh.
But hey. If it somehow fluffs your ego or makes you feel better about yourself, have at it.
