Hey Roo - stupid fast SUV choice

Wife needs new vehicle to replace too-small Audi S4. Since she can't directly copy Lindsey Vonn (no S6 Avant in the US, black hair, butt too small), how would you rate an X5 M vs. a Cayenne Turbo?

Both are good fun, Cayenne about to be replaced. Neither are as much of a hoot as the Merc ML 63 AMG which is my favourite of the loony SUVs.

Get that hot roddy Grand Cherokee, Cayennes-meh you don't want her to be that gal. The back space on both of them has enough space for a volleyball net.

Daaaaaaauuuuuuuuum your wife is a lucky lady! That's a pretty spendy choice of vehicles she has. My rides a Jeep Liberty but currently driving the Subgnaru wagon since I have the kid all of the time.

Fast SUV's... I'd give way more bj's if I had a ride like hers. Maybe that's your motive.

I'm kind of hot for Eurovan's these days too. Or an old school woody Wagoneer.

Not even AMG can overcome that sort of image problem.

There's a silver/grey '08 S6 Avant, absolutely cherry, with 8,100 miles on it at the dealership up the road from here for $44K and I bet you can talk them down. I'll drive it out to you for gas money.

Jeep SRT8. My boss just bought a second one for his wife. I got to drive it for a few days in January.

    What a riot that was.

Ooh, my bad. Lindsey Vonn drives an RS6, so that's what you need to find for us.

If you buy it and let me drive it I'll kick down for a can of spray paint and turn it into an RS6, no charge.

If she's coming from an S4 she probably doesn't want something so "trucky," but I'd go with a G55 AMG.

For a family car I like the safety features the ml 63 amg comes standard with. Quoted the link below to highlight the safety features.

A porche cayene is a VW Tourareg. I can't seem to shake that when I look at them.

    http://www.privatefleet.com.au/buyin...63-amg-review/
"You’ll travel in style as well as premium safety. Antilock disc brakes are standard on the Mercedes Benz ML 63 AMG, as are front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. Stability control is standard as well, and the system features a rollover sensor. Active bi-xenon headlights, and front and rear park assist are standard. Alongside the dynamic handling systems and the safety features such as airbags and restraint systems, the unitised body further enhances the safety of the M-Class. The high-strength passenger cell is also protected by the energy-absorbing front and rear structures. The Mercedes Benz ML 63 AMG keeps you on the right track: the standard-fit ESP/4ETS dynamic handling control system helps you snugly on the road, and on the rugged off-the-road terrain. The onboard electronics intervene in potentially critical situations.

It was silly-good fun. I got to channel my inner hooligan for a few days.

But the suspension was a little rough on some of our AMAZING roads in Calgary. Glorious exhaust note. Super comfy interior. With some sticky tires in the summer it would be great fun to drive between Calgary and Revelstoke.

As for the styling, I think they look like a Jeep, but you can tell it's still a hotrod underneath. I think the look better than the Magnum/Nitro/300C SRT8 models.

It's fast enough that the Boss enjoys driving it, and his other car is a Viper.

Cool, maybe I'll see if I can find one to drive somewhere around here. I guess they're brutal on gas.

i thought they (audi, bmw) all had that image?

i'd still take an AMG over the rest...they are an incredible drive.
