Are there any? I'm in Amherst. Also just looking for a 1/2 decent shop in general. We have a local one but they're all A-holes, overpriced, do shitty work, etc.
Hmmm I would say your best bet is probably heading into Southern VT, there are a bunch of well reviewed bootfitters in that area. As for personal experience I really like the guys at High Adventure in Latham NY. It'd be about the same distance timewise. I'm not sure if they do bootwork for boots that aren't bought from them but they know their shit and guarentee the fit of the boot for as long as you own it. My wife's feet changed shape while she was pregnant with our son and instead of selling her new boots they did some minor bootwork to her boots that we got from them 3 years ago. Should she have any problems during the season they said that they would continue to do free work on them. She's not NEARLY as picky as I am when it comes to boots. I got new Dabellos from them last year and probably was in there every week(sometimes twice a week ) getting minor tweeks made to them and never once was I charged for it. I'd give them a call (518) 785-0501 before driving out to see 'em

Go see Charlie at Comp Edge. If this is the shop that you said are A-Holes then I'm sorry you've been just a little unlucky.
If you think they are over priced then you're pretty High. These guys drop their pants on pricing all day long.
I used this shop for years, but now I'm out west, Got many deals from them, and Charlie is a great guy, and they used to have good guys working there but its a college town so I dont know who is still there.
If you still dont want to go there, head to Northern Ski Works in Killington, or at Okemo. But those shops charge Mountain Retail pricing, not like in Mass.
Your best bet is to go into VT. Don't know much about western Mass, but central Mass has nothing good to offer. Probably the best shop I've been to in central mass was the one at Wachusett, and it still isn't that good. Prices on boots are standard though.
As for other shitty shops in central mass to avoid like the plague: Strands, Ski Market (duh) and Sport Loft.
