Loveland Pass: Small remote trigger slide in action

Hit up Loveland on Friday and enjoyed copious amounts of sunshine and a fair bit of good riding. Stayed on mellow terrain on the west side of the pass and then took one run on the east side which proved to be awesome! Caught a shot of a 2-party dropping south off the pass and triggering a small slide on an east facing roll. Appeared to be ~15-20m wide, maybe 30-40cm deep on the week-old sun crust (presumed failure, I didn't wander over to check it out). A pit we dug on a NNE 20 degree slope failed cleanly ~25cm deep on a 1-finger hardness over some mid-pack 4-finger crap. Pretty minor occurrence but shows how you could get in trouble even on 'safe' slopes.

Boarder a few meters after triggering, wish I'd been faster on the camera

    Slide getting a bit bigger

Luckily this is about as far as the slide got

As close a shot as I could get with a 55mm lens

That was a few friends of mine. Headed out to "No Name". Looks pretty non serious and I think they were well away from that side. Snowpack is brittle
