"Having been the first team in postseason history to win a seven-game series after being down, 0-3, the Red Sox couldn't now become the second team to blow a 3-0 lead.

    Could they?

The old Red Sox might have. Not this team. This team is different.

The old Red Sox are history. The 2004 Red Sox are making history. "

courtesy of the Pro Jo's Jim Donaldson.

Seriously, the Red Sox make a ton of mistakes, nothing comes back to haunt them, and the Cards make one mistake and it hurts them huge, it's unprecendented, like nothing I've seen in the 30 years I've been following the Sox, it's the Bizzaro World.

There is no shame in losing to the Red Sox: Boston is a deserving town and you certainly have a deserving team.

BUT, being embarrassed and not playing the caliber of baseball they are capable of is just pathetic. Suppan's base-running was attrocious.

Anyway, it was fun hanging with Gonzo - there are a ton of Bostonians in town for the series - my seats are a "beer-cup throw" away from the Boston player wives' seats - they were cheering pretty hard. Man, we haven't played with a lead early in any game for an eternity.

I could go on, but what's the point.

last night was a blast. full Game 3 TR coming with pics. never seen so much camo at a baseball game in my life.

heading back to boston tonight to be there for the fun. awww yeah! unjinx. but man St. Louis is totally deflated. you could hear sox fans screaming from several sections over. we would stand up and cheer when good shit happened and wave at eachother. hilarious. i think about 2 St. Louis fans understood what the shocker was. every sox fan loved it.

as i said last night to carl - "best baseball fans" = most polite?

    unjinx unjinx unjinx

How did Karl double post with two posts in between?

I feel like this is something out of King Lear, where the natural elements start acting all funky and out of sorts.
It still hasn't sunk in for me--I saw on the ESPN ticker this morning 'Red Sox lead WS 3-0', and wished they could have just kept running it over and over until I could truly understand it.
Pedro kicked ass, and this team is amazing. If D Lowe has his stuff together tonight...

Did anybody see the Daily Show ALCS coverage? Hilarious...Jon Stewart interviewing Rob Cordry after the Sox won game seven:

JS: What's it like in Boston?
RC: The mood, Jon, is one of cautious optimism.
    JS: But...you guys won!
    RC: DON'T JINX IT, MAN!

That's how I'm feeling right now.

When Pedro has 3 lousy innings to start & STL can't make a scratch on the board, they're in SERIOUS trouble.

Tonite? Our boys taste blood. Our pen's ready to go. They're strong, they're ready - the only question is: Will St. Louis' desperation be enough to get them a win at home, or will they choke under the pressure? Will we witness Boston set yet another record to be the 18th team in history to sweep the Series?

"I find I'm so excited I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I imagine it's the excitement only a free man can feel. A free man at the start of a long journey, whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border... I hope to see my friend and shake his hand... I hope the Pacific is a blue as it has been in my dreams... I hope... "

I think I should change my name to "The Heart of the Cardinals Batting Order", given that I'm MIA.

Hey, did you guys hear that A-Rod was spotted stretching out Poo Holes in the Cardinals' shower after game 3?

I don't think I can make it tonight, in fact, I know I can't, if I want to watch the game. I am absolutely killing myself over it, but I have an article due, a mock trial to dominate, and three classes tomorrow. I am honestly- strike me dead- hoping that the Cards can stretch it to 5 games, because if there's a game 5 then I'm there.

all you're missing by not being here is the opportunity to watch basom pass out by the sixth inning.

Let's all take a moment and send postive thoughts that the Red Sox bats be big and Lowe is mighty.

This is the worst kind of jinx imaginable, we are now officially fucking doomed.
