Body armor - yes or no?

I just saw a couple of threads on this subject in the Ski Swap section and it got me thinking. I've skied with a helmet for 5 or so years and wear it everyday, regardless of who I'm skiing with or what I'm skiing. But I've definitely hurt myself in places other than the head while skiing. To those who've skied with me, am I putting the cart way before the horse was conceived in a mad flurry of horse sex behind the barn? Or would it be a good idea to wear it? I'd imagine its kinda warm and I'd prolly do without on hot spring days... but I said the same thing about the helmet and I wore a Flint SC skiing memorial day *shrugs*.
    WWMD?

EDIT: I spend roughly .0000001% of my time in the park...

It would make you look real 'core and stuff. We all know that's the point of skiing... I will probably buy some padding for my ass for while I'm screwing around in the park if I've got some cash, but that's about it...

Worn it biking (rarely), never skiing.

don't wear any, but I imagine my padded camelbak with bottles of gatorade helps.

its crossed my mind, mostly just because i have a nasty habit of dislocating/seperating shoulders.

of course i only think of it when i spend a month washing my hair one handed.

I have body armor from mountain biking, but I have only worn it in comps where you will often ski lines you may not have the balls to otherwise.

It's just too bulky and hot to wear every day out.

My life has seriously become pretty injury free ever since I started wearing body armor after 1am. The mouthguard and cup are key.

I sometimes wear red protection impact shorts - www.redprotection.com

    I still hurt myself though.

They are pretty good if you can be bothered wearing them.

My Oakley jacket has some fancy foam padding in a neato design on the elbows. Does that count?

    Thumbs up

I was pretty happy wearing a helmet when i hit some rocks and started rolling down the mountain resulting in a nice head hit. And when i saw some young local, hitting a cliff i hit some days before, landing in a bombhole (dont know why he hucked it as 5th of the group !!!) and breaking his back on the rocks(luckyly the spine was intact afterwards) i was wondering why i have not been skiing with a back protector for a longer time.
I upgraded and got upper body and "ass protection" [leave gay comments here ] this year and im not sure if im gonna wear it on deep powder days( I always wear helmet and back stuff because those things wont heal if injured... ), but ill definitely wear it when the sun comes out and conditions allow those lines you feel better wearing the storm trooper equipment.
It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.
