I am still blown away over it. To all those canadians, and Amercian fans of the band. I just saw The Tragically Hip in a bar with a capacity of 150 people.
The band has been up here in Whistler creating a new album over the summer. After they emmersed in the bad news of 4 good people dying in the floods, they stepped it up.
They played 2 benefit shows at The Boot Pub. They raised $10 000 for a memorial fund set up. The bar was going crazy. My body is still shaking.
After the show on Tuesday night, the band hung out a Gators upstairs from the boot, and it was a VIP party for close friends of the 4 boys. Gordie is a very geniune man, very down to earth.
Just before they left the stage (before their 4 song encore) Gordie repeated, "this one is for the boys"
Thanks Tragically Hip, for bringing the moral of the town back up after the tragedy, you have done more than you know for the locals spirits.
Nice. I admit I haven't followed them in awhile, but they've put on some of the best shows I've ever been to. Seeing them in a 1,000 person venue was the most initimate I got - I can only imagine how rockin' a tiny bar would have been.
Sick and ashamed and happy (and "the next person to walk into our cheap fucking apartment would blow both our heads off"),
d.
Wow, The title of this thread caught me off guard. The Hip are pretty cool and good for stuff like that. Wish I could have caught that concert, sounds like it would have been pretty sweet.
