2 pieces of good news in 1:

    1) Early opening.
    2) Trainer is still around to enjoy his new bar after some 20 odd years at GMD.

I cannot wait to get back.

man, you guys are good; 'cause if these rumors are true, your sources know more than some of the upper-level managers at the Bird...

I would think those managers would have more to lose in terms of credibility if they jumped the gun about opening early.

... latest and greatest as of this morning (Thursday). Sounds like Z is more on with the first weekend of Nov. than APD and this weekend.

    "Hi Xover
Snowbird's opening date is still being decided. With a big storm in the forecast, Snowbird could open one week to two weeks earlier than the original November 20th date. Please check the website snowbird.com by Friday and the opening date should be posted by then.

i'm going up today and will take a look at the mountain, from the access road, to see if they have any of the usual ropes and signs up. this depends on the vis, but i may stop in and talk to a few people who have been there for a few decades and that have never misinformed me before.

edit: xover, that sounds likely but i still think they will do a weekend before they open full time.

Last thing I want the news to do is announce to the valley that the Bird is opening up.

In my best Cartman voice....." Sweeeeeet".

(I see the doc for the last time, I hope, on the 4th; should be "offically" cleared to ski. I won't tell him about touring at Alta or hitting Brighton already though, just to be safe)

FYI...official opening info from the Bird...

    Snowbird Announces Earliest Opening Ever

Continued early-season snowfall will allow Snowbird to open for the 2004-05 season Friday, Nov. 5.

Snowbird will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 5-7, with the Tram, Gadzoom and Wilbere chairlifts. To facilitate employee training and mountain set-up, Snowbird will be closed Nov. 8-11 then re-open for the duration of the season on Friday, Nov. 12. The early-season ticket price will be $45/day. The Tram and chairlifts will be open normal operating hours.
