    Snowbird opening early ...

... you decide from the e-mail I just received from them. Me gots a think it will be at the very least before their projected opening of Nov. 20. Last year they followed suit and opened a week after Brighton; I'm hoping (praying) for even earlier than that this year.

Endless, throw your weight around a little

Snowbird's opening date is still being decided. Please check the website snowbird.com in a couple of days and the opening date should be posted by then.

    Ok, here's the answer:

The question: are you opening early?

"Yes we are. If this week's storm comes through as expected with cold temperatures, we'll open early. We plan to make that decision by mid-week and will announce it immediately. Not this weekend, though."

Man. That was fast. He said they want to open as much as we want them to. If this weather holds up for a couple more days, it sounds like we'll be pleased with the opening date.
They'll post their decision as early as the day after tomorrow.
I reminded him that they need to beat their Nov 10th opening a few years ago.

Me thinking a Friday (just like last year) the 5th (week earlier than last year ) or Sat. the 6th (that would suck cause of crowds and I'd miss it anyway ). Fingers crossed, down on knees prayin' like hell!!

Word from my connection at the PR dept. - Opening Nov 5, 6, and 7, then closed for the week, then opening for good the next weekend, provided the storms keep on coming. I was just up there - it's dumping. AltaBird pass is now in my possession.

Yeah!!! I wish they'd stay open that week though - us gov't employees gots the 11th off also - guess I'll have skin for it

BTW, I assume the "next weekend" for good will be starting Friday the 12th??

That's the idea behind not jinxing the upcoming season -- so that it resembles Utah and not Michigan by the time I get there.

just remember that the week before they open all uphill traffic is prohibited (avy control). gotta go across the street for your turns then.

At this point nothing is certain, except Brighton opening on Friday, and both Alta and Snowbird closing to uphill traffic. I'm sure we'll all know whats up after this next storm hits.

i was told today by my old manager at the gmd that the bird would open this weekend and then close for the week. sounds reasonable. the bird was doing a bunch of avi control this morning.

i was told that they would be up for this weekend. i don't know if that means sat/sun or fri/sat or all three. the word came from trainer at the gmd who is usually well informed.
